One Down Two To Go!
If Game 1 is any indication of what the first series of the playoffs  is going to be like, it is going to be a hard fought battle between the Atom Rep Rams and the Hanover Falcons.

Game 1 on Saturday was in Hanover and the first period was a fast paced.  The Rams came out pumped and wanting the first goal.  The entire team was working hard offensively and defensively.  It took until one minute left in the first period for Brady Coburn with a long shot from just inside the blue line to catch the corner of the net to open the scoring.  The coaches on the bench had their hands in the air and relief on their faces to have the first point up on the board.
The 2nd period the Falcons came out strong and Noah Kroes had his work cut out for him between the pipes.
With a great pass from Hunter Elliott, Jake Mulder broke away from the crowd with the puck but was denied by the Falcons cager.
A Rams penalty left them shorthanded and the Falcons used the opportunity to their advantage  to tie the game at one.
It was a battle back and forth but with 53 seconds left in the 2nd, Alex Kieffer with a pass to Jordan Reaman with a backhand
pass to Derick Acheson to lift the puck into the mesh.
With 1:08 into the 3rd Blake Lewis from the corner passed out front to Jordan Reaman to score.  26 seconds later the Rams thought they had another goal but it was waved off  by the ref.
The Falcons then had a 3 on 1 opportunity but Kroes came up big with a glove save.
The Rams defense Kyle Dallaire, Dylan Reeves, Tristan Sylvestre, Jake Zeinstra, and Warren Zeinstra were rock solid as they wrecked many of the Falcons scoring opportunities.  They were instrumental in keeping the puck inside the blue line to feed the forwards scoring opportunities.
Troy Weber, Cole Hodgins and Blake Lewis had amazing back checking plays frustrating the Falcons chances.
Hanover was starting to add up on penalties and Derick Acheson took advantage and with a shot from the blue line gave the Rams goal #4.
Hanover was able to score goal #2 with a 1:15 left in the game.  The Falcons pulled their goalie and applied pressure in the Rams end.  The Rams had some trouble clearing the puck out but finally got the job done and redirected the puck down to the Falcons end to finish the game.
The final score was 4-2 for the Rams who claimed game #1 in the 3 out of 5 series.  Game #2 is Thursday night @ 7:00 p.m. at the Mount Forest Sports Complex.
