Game 5 Win over the Cambridge Roadrunners
The long drive was definitely worthwhile, the girls had the right mindset and if it would have been a singing contest, they would have won already, but they were anxious to get on the ice to show off….

….and did they ever! Elyse was wired and even too fast for the referee as she charged for a puck that wasn’t even dropped yet. After a quick face off change Mount Forest goes for the Cambridge end. Allyson went for the board and dug so hard we could see the wood splinters flying. As they work together toward the net Avery gives of a good shot. Natalie E. works the puck from behind the Cambridge net in front and creates a good scoring chance. The pace is set, Avery gives off a shot from the blue line the Roadrunners intercept and are off towards the Mount Forest net, but Allyson and Esther work together to stop the attack in its tracks.
Natalie E. brings it over the blue line as the game goes on and puts it out there for Nikki who does not hesitate and give of a shot on net. Sydney was a force on the blue line and with a great pass to Avery she creates another chance. The Cambridge goalie had to work very hard stopping all our shots and it was hard to get around her.
Abigail tries to score one right of the face off and surprise the goalie, no luck this time, lots more shots follow this one right away and finally the Mount Forest crowd gets a chance to unload some of that nervous energy! 1-0.
Elyse tries one more time as the puck comes of the boards, pass to Avery who goes for a breakaway, but the goalie denies her as the first period ends.
The crowd is still not comfortable with just the one goal, they want more and they are getting it. After some hard work from Abigail she gives it of to Elyse, who brings it in and with a nice move gets the 2-0. It doesn’t take long for the third goal to come as it sails by the Cambridge net, Allyson sees a hole and scores. After a surprise attack from the Roadrunners the score comes to 3-1.
The girls don’t give a for a moment and Jenna fights her way out on the boards, the puck gets to Natalie D. who give a beauty of a pass to Cali who goes for the breakaway, Abigail is on her heels and get the pass, finish this attack of with a very hard shot but he goalie is ready. Avery tries a end to end breakaway which looked very good, unfortunately the Cambridge goalie denied her a happy ending.
She makes up for it the next period as a great pass from her get to Elyse, who finish it off for a 4-1 lead. Danielle also get a great chance as she is ready in front of the net, she gets the puck, flips it up but hit’s the goalie mask. As the play goes on Jenna fights for the puck but a roadrunner is hanging on to it for dear life and as she tries to pull it loose a great chance passed by. Allysa is ready though she fights and digs along the board and with some hard! Shots she gets things to safer ground last night.
The Mount Forest Rams don’t give up and with Gillian and Meagan working hard to create chances the game goes on fast pace. Abigail steels the puck and is off for a good shot on net but the play stops with a high stick from Cali and just as the play goes on again, Avery gets a tripping penalty.. With a 3 on 5 and some great defensive work from Mattea, Elyse gets a chance and takes it for a shorthanded 5th goal with only 2:35 on the clock this game is in the bag!
