Pee Wee Rams wrap up regular season
The longstanding rivalry between the Mount Forest Pee Wee Rams and the Durham Huskies was at full throttle at the latest meeting just before Christmas. The squads met on Rams turf and the home team took full advantage.

Brett Doney jumped all over a rebound from Macauley Hall to pop one through the Durham netminder, putting the Rams on the board at the eight minute mark. The line of Jackson Francis, Nathan Reeves and Willson Fisher executed excellent rushes but were denied. On defense, John Bowden pinned his man to the boards following a strong Husky offense. Nathan Reeves sent a strong message to the Durham forward when he used textbook checking technique to clear an intimidating Husky.

Nolan Officer then cashed the rubber off a pass from Connor Reeves and Cody Stewart. With just over a minute remaining, the Huskies were able to attack and flipped a rebound over a downed Dylan Laprade for a 2-1 count.

The Rams kept the action in the Durham end for the first part of the second frame. Officer and Connor Kerr teamed up to make the crease a nightmare for the Durham goalie, but the Husky defense was able to regroup and prevent a goal. Francis, Fisher and Hall were threatening the crease before the Huskies took the rubber to Laprade and tucked one through the pads. Francis thrilled the fans with an exhilliarting end to end breakaway, setting up a spectacular barrage of shooting at the Husky pipes. While the visitors were digging in hard, the agressive play led to penalties and eventually saw a 5-3 advantage for the Rams.

Doney capitalized on the situation and received from Connor Reeves and Francis to advance the score 3-2. Mount Forest then spent some time in the penalty box, but the Rams were able to burn off of the deficit before Francis and Connor Reeves set up Officer for a blast just inside the blue line for a 4-2 count.

In the third period, Nathan Reeves was robbed of an outstanding scoring opportunity, but continued to dig for loose rubber around the net. Connor Reeves was solid in feeding the puck back into the crease with a powerful slam from the blue line. Kerr had fans screaming with a breakway and rebound off of Fisher, while Stewart fell back to assist on defense. But it was Francis who benefitted from a pass off Fisher to advance the margain 5-2.

Finally the second overtime frame began with three on three action. Fans were then treated to a two on two third overtime and the ongoing efforts of Doney and Officer were key in keeping the play out of the Rams end. Eventually the match had to be decided in a sudden death shootout. Connor Kerr was able to deke the Shelburne cager, while Laprade blocked the Shelburne missile.

MF vs MEAFORD

Peter faced some serious rubber as Meaford attempted to play catch up. Their goal came amongst a scrum and was contested by both the Rams goalie and defensemen. Mount Forest pushed forward and Officer advanced the cause with an ackward, off balance shot. As the Mustangs barrelled into the Rams end Connor Reeves worked hard to protect the pipes and sweep away rebound debris. Owen Milne used a strong swing shot to clear the end and give the Rams forwards an advantage.

In the third frame the Rams were outstanding in their abilities to kill penalities and keep the puck mid ice. Cody Stewart used his back checking while Holliday made the pipes sing with a near miss.
