Bantam Girls Move on to the International Silvertick
The Bantam girls finished with the finalist medal in Saugeen Shores Regional Silverstick Nov. 28, 29 and 30th. They played excellent hockey the entire weekend. Tamara Officer played 5 great games in net, holding the team in the tournament. Holy Mollie what a Goalie! She had 2 shut outs, allowing only 4 goals the entire 5 game tournament. The defence lines stood their ground and played great defensive games, keeping the puck out of our end. The offense lines worked very hard at getting the puck into the net with lots of chances and some great passing and goals. All the girls showed up for every game with the heart, the desire and the belief that they could do it. Coaches Chris Glerum, John Reeves and Ira Yake had the girls pumped for every game. They were all very happy with the girl’s performance and drive. Game 1 on Friday against TCDMHA was a 3-0 victory for the girls, starting them off for the rest of the way. Game 2 on Friday againt Mt. Bridges was aa very strong game t for the girls with lots of action leaving them with a 2–1 victory for Mount Forest. A full team effort was put into this game. Game 3 on Saturday against Embro was a 2-0 victory game for the girls to head to the Semi finals on Sunday morning against Tavistock. The girls all showed up for this game and played their hearts out ending up with a 3-1 victory to move on to the finals. The final game was against Goderich who they play in regular season games. This game was a very tough playing game. Goderich wanted it as much as Mount Forest did. Lots of digging in the corners and battles won by Mount Forest. But the final score did not do justice for how hard the girls worked in this game. The game ended in a 2-0 loss for Mount Forest. After medals were handed out, the tournament convenor announced that there was a spot in the International Silverstick in Bellevile for the Mount Forest girls. That was all that was needed to be said to take all the tears away from that game and see the girls come
