Rams end Slide
After playing some solid hockey in the Lucknow Silver Stick the Rams fell to some quality opponents in league and exhibition play.  At the Silver Stick the Juvies started slowly, losing a 5-2 tilt to Listowel.  They did finish off with 2 of their best games of the year - beating Saugeen Shores 4-1 and then Tilsonburg with a 5-3 marker.  This gave the local Rams a tidy 10-3 record at this Tourney over the past 3 years.  Back to seasonal play they came out with a lopsided 11-3 win over Howick with Jordan Barber and Evan Shortreed leading the way with 2 goals and an assist each.

They followed this game up with their 4th match-up of the year vs the Arthur Vipers.  The back and forth game saw Mt. Forest tie it up late in the 2nd period at 3-3, only to give up two late 3rd period markers to fall 5-3 to the visitors.  Overall a good effort by the Rams against the Arthur squad that has only dropped 1 game this year - a 5-2 marker to our Rams earlier this month.  After 2 snowed out games, the Rams travelled to Hanover for a Christmas break game vs the Juvenile Barons.  The two teams played with  "holiday" lineup of 10 players each.  The Rams played a terrific first two periods carrying a 3-1 lead into the 3rd period.  Ian Corley with his 2nd of the game gave the Rams a 4-1 lead only 15 seconds into the 3rd period from Evan Shortreed and Colin Moran.  This was all there was for the Rams however as the Barons stormed back with 5 straight markers to take the game 6-4.  Next up was the second matchup with a potential playoff opponent in Seaforth.  This had the makings of another epic battle as these two teams battled to an exciting 7-7 draw in their previous match-up.  The game was once again knotted at 2-2 after two periods thanks to a nifty un-assisted effort by Tristan Rae and one by Ian Corley from Evan Shortreed.  For the 3rd game in a row, however the Rams who had played 2 periods of great hockey were not rewarded with a win and eventually fell 7-2 to Seaforth.
The Rams were able to get back in the win column with a good effort against Clifford back at home in a rare Monday night game.  They grabbed an early 1-0 lead on a nice flip pass from Mitchell Ferguson from deep inside the zone over to Justin Coburn who roofed one top shelf.  Clifford did come back a few minutes later on a nice effort that eluded Krystal Corley making her 2nd start in net for the Rams.  The Rams then notched a power play marker after some nice puck movement by Ryan Pinder, to JD Pinder, Ian Corley, Evan Shortreed, back to Mitchell Ferguson at the point.  His rocket from the top of the circle was tipped in by Corley to restore the 1 goal lead.  The power play continued to fire on all cylinders as Shortreed recieved a perfect pass from JD Pinder and burried it 2:31 of the second.  Just seconds later Mitchell Ferguson feathered a nice pass to Colin Moran whose offspeed slapshot fooled the Clifford netminder at 2:15 to end the period with a 4-1 lead.  Clifford started off quickly in the 2nd with a nice marker to draw closer at 4-2.  Krystal Corley came up with a nice save on a breakaway minutes later to maintain the 2 goal margin.  Brian Corley showed remarkable restraint by taking a couple punches to the head which resulted in the undisciplined Clifford playing taking a double minor.  In the upcoming power play Mitchell Ferguson supplied the "tic", Matt Ostrander the "tac" and Justin Coburn burried the "toe". Minutes later Coburn finished off his hat-trick with another top shelf blast to make it 6-2 to end the second period.  Early in the 2nd period Jordan Barber was foiled twice on excellent rushes - one blast off the netminders shoulder, the second wide right - reminicscent of a field goal attempt by a Bills field goal kicker a few years ago.  The goal of the night was up next.  Some nifty passing between linemates JD Pinder and Ian Corley ended up with the puck behind the net - giving a beautiful feed to Corley back in the slot who bulged the twine with a nice snap shot.  A scramble in front of the net resutled in a 8-2 lead with Evan Shortreed getting the goal - assist to JD Pinder.  The final marker of the night was a well deserved goal by the Mucker Line who never fail to impress night in and night out.  Aaron Capell rifled ... yes I said "rifled" a goal 5-hole on setups from fellow Muckers Tristan Rae and Roice McDougall-Lamont to end the scoring and providing the Rams with a 9-2 win.
