Opening Winner!
On Saturday October 24,2009 the Bantam team took to home ice for their Season Opener versus Bruce Peninsula.
Both teams looked good and ready to start the season throughout the first period. The game pace was fast and steady and the home team goal tender Nathan M was sharp.The visitors found his number with just under 2 minutes left in the first to take a 1 - 0 lead over the home team.
The home side would not be kept silent starting the second when #19 Evan H scored a beautiful goal after taking the pass from #21 Willson F, just 2 minutes into the second. Less than 30 seconds later Willson, assisted by the defensive line of #10 Darin L & #24 Gavin M dropped one into the visitors net to take a 2 - 1 lead for the home side. The visitors tied things up with just under 5 minutes left in the second, and both teams took a well deserved break while the arena staff flooded the ice.
Once back on the ice the home team continued with their plans to win their home opener. Just 5 minutes into the third #11 Ryan H shot one past the visitor goal after #18 Tyler M served him up the puck, giving the home team a 3 - 2 lead. Play continued for the remaining 10 minutes of the third with both teams coming up with some great shots. However, the goal tenders both played well for the remainder of the period, leaving the home team with a well deserved victory. Great game boys!
