Teamwork earns big point against Walkerton
Midget LL girls hosted the Walkerton Capitals November 14th with one thought in mind - getting even.  The previous week they lost 4 -1 with goalie Tamara Green on the DL; volunteer goalie Jenna Yake in net and Danielle Grotenhuis serving a CFB suspension.

This week Danielle was back but Goalie Green was still on the DL and Oakes was nursing a bug at home.

Walkerton was first to light up the scoreboard when Sabrina Clarke finished off an Alyson Spitzig/Marisa Dales set up at 7.39 of the first.  Two minutes later Danielle Grotenhuis put out a great individual effort and zinged one buy the Walkerton tender's catcher mitt.  In the dying seconds of the first frame Steph Penney threaded one through the crowd in front of the Walkerton net after connecting with a Sara Harman pass.

Walkerton's Spitzig and Zera Murphy combined to tie the score less than a minute into the 2nd period.  The remainder of the game was back and forth and it looked like Walkerton was gonna get one by Yake in the last few seconds but the flop style goal tending worked wonders and they were robbed by Jenna.

The local girls squeezed one point out of the contest and you've got to give them credit (especially Yake) for playing the game without a regular goalie.  These girls are starting to come together as a team with players at all levels of abilities but everyone with the right attitude.
