Atom LL make it to the Tara Championship "A" Final
On Saturday February 18, 2012, the Atom LL participated in a tournament hosted by Tara. At the end of a long day the boys were playing in the championship game.
Mount Forest began tournament play against the Blyth Bulldogs. The Rams played some great hockey and were able to come up with a 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs. Spencer MacArthur scored twice and Joseph Ferguson earned a single in the win. Joseph and Nathan Zeinstra earned 2 assists each, while Spencer earned one assist.
In the second game against Arran-Elderslie, the team played their hearts out and after three periods the scoreboard was tied at 3. A shoot out followed. In the first round of the shoot out, Alec Beauregard scored for Mount Forest, but Arran-Elderslie answered back with one. In the second round, Nathan Zeinstra scored for Mount Forest, and at the other end, Ram's goaltender Hunter Radojcin shut out the opponent and earned the victory. During regular play Alec scored a hat trick. Noah Felsbourg picked up 2 assists. Joseph Ferguson, Spencer MacArthur, Tyler Stewart, Alexandar Varallo and Ben Wildeman each had one assist. Final score 5-4 for the Rams.
The Rams faced the Seaforth Stars for the trophy in the championship final. After two periods of play, the game was at a 5-5 tie. The Rams ran out of steam, however, and let some rebounds get past their goaltender in the third period. Game final 11-6 loss for Mount Forest.
Mount Forest certainly provided an excellent display of hockey on Saturday and congratulations goes out to the entire team. Way to go Rams!!
