BIG ROLLING STORM
There was a storm this weekend rolling into Saugeen Shores and Owen Sound but it wasn't the weather it was a group of Girls called the Mount Forest Atom Rams and they were in a battle for 2nd place in the league. Even though we have only lost 2 games, we were sitting in 3rd place. But not for long. After the way we played this weekend the girls really made a statement for the upcoming playoffs that we are the team to beat. As the girls say SHOOT, PASS KICK SOME A-- !!
The girls knew what was at stake this weekend with 2 games against very good opponets. Saturday we headed to Saugeen Shores and 2nd shift of the game Arianna potted a dirty rebound just laying in the crease to go up 1-0. The score stood that way until late in the game when Saugeen Shores got a cheap one by Marissa who by the way had her best game of the year by far.
We controlled the pace of the game for 90% of it but we just couldn't get the go ahead by their very good defence, the game ended in a 1-1 tie. So we are still 1pt up on them.
Sunday we headed to Owen Sound to battle the 2nd place team who have only lost 1 game this season but our girls could taste 2nd place these girls got big B__lls to win the big game. It didn't start out so good and after 5 mins we were down 2-0 OH sh--t it's going to be a long day. But with a kick in the butt and a few words of encouragement to follow the game plan, the Rams took over the game only allowing 2 more shots on Marissa. We dominated the play and slowly we came back 2-1with some good hard work by Arianna, Morgan and Taylor. A few minutes later Fisher comes flying down the wing with a good pass from Paige and lifts a wrister up and over the goalie YES Damm RIGHT 2-2 the girls are pumped! 1 shift later Hanna bangs away a rebound 3-2 the comeback is one for the ages as Owen Sound is stunned they didn't know what hit them. But if they were listening carefully they could of heard the girls chanting on the bench GO RAMS GO, GO RAMS GO that's what I love about these girls they really support one another out there as a team and it's great to see. Great weekend girls you really showed up when we needed you the most. As to not forget the defence on this team they don't get a lot of points but they have only allowed 9 goals against that's good for best in the league for goals against and they deserve some credit for the outstanding season Evelyn, Jayde, Megan, Kyla,Delaney what a job these girls are doing they may not be big like Zdeno Chara but they are quick and smart with the puck.
Also there is a little blonde thing in the net that when the defence can't stop them all the other teams see is this little blond girl in net and she eats pucks for breakfast, lunch and supper ( I hear the mother is not a good cook)and all she does is stop everything that comes her way.
Parents remeber the year end playoffs is the weekend of March 2,3,4 in Ayton this year
