Season Opener Ends in a Tie
On the 12th of October 2011, the Mount Forest Atom Reps hosted the Durham Huskies in the 2011-2012 season opener.

A motivated Husky team got off to a quick start, but the Rams pushed back and much of the first period was played in the neutral zone.

However, Durham struck first midway through the period going up 1-0.
Just over a minute later Mount Forest responded with Luke Eurig taking it end to end finishing with a wristshot high under the crossbar knotting it at one a piece.

The second period saw the Reps start fast with Brody Leblanc winning the initial faceoff and taking it into Durham's end. Leblanc's shot was stopped but Eurig was able to shovel in the rebound giving the homeside the lead 2-1 nine seconds into the middle period.  The Rams hung on to the slim lead until 18 seconds left in the 2nd when the Huskies were able to pull even at two.

In the final period the seesaw battle continued with Durham this time pulling ahead midway through making it    3-2.  Mount Forest again replied quickly with Alex Iles winning a battle along the boards, creating a 2 on 1 where Iles made a nice feed to Eurig who one-timed it over the Husky goalie for the hattrick and to tie it again a three.

Durham again took the lead late in the 3rd period - but the Rams with under a minute to go pulled out all the stops. With the goalie out and the extra attacker on - Iles with the assistance of Tanner Gordon won the battle for the puck inside the Husky blueline.  Iles was able to then take the puck into the slot and rip a wristshot past the Durham netminder making the score 4-4.
Fittingly, for both teams that's how the game would end in a 4-4 tie.

Next up for the Atom Reps is a home and home series with the Minto Mad Dogs.

Great team effort Rams!
