Let the play offs begin!
The Novice Local League went out with a bang after finishing off their regular season with a tournament in Drayton.  The first game was against Beverly who they had won against in the Erin Tournament in December by only one goal.

The Novice team started off strong with a goal early on by Macarthur, but the Beverly bandits came back and the game was a nail biter.  One team would score, and the other would follow it up with a goal themselves.  Macarthur got a hat trick and Farnell chipped one in, giving them a win 4-3.

On to game 2, the Novice team faced off against the Listowel Cyclones who they have not beat yet in regular season games.  The rams went out on the ice hungry knowing that they had to win this game or they were going home for the day.  They didn't look back and all skated around the Cyclones with a strong game win of 6-3, making it to the finals.

In the final game they faced off against Orangeville, a team they had yet to play.  The rams knew that it was going to be a tough game and battled it out.  Everyone tired at this point but not wanting to give up.  Orangeville started off strong, scoring 3 goals fast in the first period.  The rams were not giving up, and fought their way back and tied it up at 3-3.  Into 4 on 4 2 minute of overtime, the rams kept pace with Orangeville, still 3-3.  Now into 3 on 3 2 minutes of overtime, still a tie.  Macarthur and Farnell out for the final 2 on 2 of overtime, before the game goes into a shoot out.  They skated hard but just ran out of gas when one of Orangeville's players ended up on a break and was able to sneak his shot past Gordon to make the final score 4-3 for Orangeville.  Brianna Gordon took 27 shots alone in the game against Orangeville, and another 23 for the other 2 games.  She made incredible glove saves and is definitely was a crowd favorite in the Orangeville game!

The rams lost in the finals, but never gave up and each and every player should be so proud.  The heart and effort that everyone showed make us as coaches of the team so excited to see what the Novice Local League can bring in the Playoff season!  Go Rams Go!
