Reps Off On The Right Foot
On September 16th, the 2012- 2013 Atom Reps started their season with an exhibition game against the Kincardine Kinucks.
From the drop of the puck the Rams smothered their opponent with an aggressive forecheck and active defense.
The game wasn't two minutes old and the Reps had a 3-0 lead. Owen Moyer opened the scoring by sliding into the slot where Luke Eurig hit him with a nice pass - Moyer made no mistake putting it high into the net -(second assist - Brent Hieber) The second line not to be outdone, hopped over the boards and 12 seconds later Aston Hall took a pass from Eric McLean and found the back of the net. Rounding out the flurry of goals was Dylan Dalliare who made a great individual effort by jumping on a loose puck and going end to end. The Rams waited only another four minutes before striking again - it was Moyer again from Owen Weiser and Eurig. Before the 1st period was complete Evan Dewar got in on the scoring with the assist to Weiser making it 5-0 for the home side.
After a penalty free 1st period, in the 2nd and 3rd periods the boys in stripes decided to slow the pace of the game down with 9 penalties between the two teams. However, the boys in green and white kept coming, killing the penalties off and then McLean going hard to the net got a goal of his own when he banged in a rebound - assists to Michael Rice and Hall.
In the final period Mount Forest added to their lead with Dewar getting two more goals giving him the Hat Trick! Drawing the assists were Rice, Hieber, Eurig and Dallaire. The Rams were not able to preserve the shut out for Jacksen McKenzie with a late goal from Kincardine - but did secure the victory 8-1.
