Holiday Challenge Finalist
The girls entered in the Milverton Holiday Challlenge after Christmas , the first game we played was against Markdale the girls maybe had a little too much Christmas cheer as the shooting stars took it to them 5-1 it was a close game until roughtly 6 minutes left in the game and then Markdale buried us with 3 late goals. The second game the Christmas hangover had worn off and the girls where back playing hard coming out on top of Mitchel 4-0
The third game of the tournament was a big one to see who would get to advance to the finals, so the girls came out of the gate like a cat of fire! wow look out the girls are swarming Stratford and came away with a 5-0 win. This was by far the best game I have seen out of these girls every girl was going as hard as they could and executed the game plan exactly as the coaches told them to. If we can keep playing like this there will be a lot more wins than loses for the rest of the season.
The final game and here we are up against the Markdale Shooting Stars again after they embarrassed us 5-1 the day before. Well the girls where ready this time with a good nights sleep and no late night partying the girls came to play and what a game it was. If you ever had to pay to watch a game then today was the day what a barn burner!!!
Markdale opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead, then the ref thought he should be the center of attention not the kids and decided to take over the game. With our team thinking they scored and arms in the air puck in the net the ref waves it off grrrrr. A few minutes later Markdale has a chance Brianna covers it the ref waves no goal and when the goalie goes to move the puck crosses the line Goal he says. Well the coaches where yelling the fans went nuts the ref goes on a power trip and starts ejecting not 1 but 2 fans and 1 of them was a grandpa ( what the hell). He then proceeds over to the bench and tells the coaches to be quite or else he is going to makes fools of us! WOW really did he just say that! With that the bench door gets slammed and bang bench minor. So here we are down 2-1 even with all the drama the ref caused this was a game for the ages both goalies where at the top of there game we had kids diving on backchecks hard fore checking everything you could ask of the girls they did. The game ended in a 2-1 loss for us but it was an incredible game congratulations to Markdale for a well earned victory they beat us but we made them work there buts off for it. After the game the girls where a bit sad but with some words of encouragement from the coach on how proud he was of the effort the frown,turned to smiles and the music started up. That night the girls had a party to celebrate Chaise and Alyssa's birthdays and what a party they had! Great effort girls
