Rams make it to Quarter Finals at Provincials
With a Great effort and a little bit of Luck the Pee Wee C Girls made it to the Quarter Finals at Provincials!!

The Rams ended their season with a great effort at Provincials.  The first game the Rams had was against the Cold Creek Comets, a team they played way back in October at the Clearview Tournament. The Rams won that game 5-0.  The Comets did not want the same outcome but the Rams were geared up for this game and it only took 15 seconds for the Rams to start the scoring.  Hanna Gerrie took the puck from the face off and skated right in and beat the Comets Goalie.  Still in the first period the Rams would strike again and this time it was Taylor Mclellan that would put the Rams up by two.  Although Cold Creek tried to get back in this game, the Rams defense would shut down this team once again.  Marissa Cottingham earned her 15th shut out of the Season.

The second game of the Provincial Round Robin was against the Straford Aces.  The Rams were off to a good start but knew they had to continue to play their best if they wanted to advance to the quarter finals.  The first period was a very close checking game and each team had chances but both goalies were not giving up anything.  In the second period it would be Stratford that would start the scoring and the Rams found themselves trailing a very strong checking team.  In the third period and still down by a goal the Rams would not give up and Hanna Gerrie assisted by Jasmine Malott would tie the game.  The Rams kept up the pressure and almost got the go ahead goal but time ran out.  The second game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The third game would be against the Rams rival the Saugeen Shores Storm.  The girls have played this team many times this year and have managed to be very competitive with this strong Saugeen team.  The first period would see a strong effort from both teams but solid defense and great goal tending kept both teams off the scoreboard.  In the second period it would be the Rams that would start the scoring.  Hanna Gerrie put the Rams up by one but it would be short lived.  Just 13 seconds after the Rams scored the Storm answered right back.  The Rams continued to put forth a great effort against the Storm but by the end of the game it was a 4-1 loss for the Rams.

That would end the round robin games for the Rams.  With one win, one tie and one loss it seemed that the Rams would not be able to advance to the Quarter finals.  The Stratford Aces and Cold Creek both had one tie and one loss and their final game was against eachother.  The only way the Rams could advance was if these to teams tied in their final game.  It never hurts to have a little luck and the Rams had it that day.  Stratford and Cold Creek tied their final game 2-2 and the Rams were going to the Quarter finals.

The Quarter Final game was against the Belmont Blazers.  The Rams realized that luck had got them into this game but it would take skill for them to beat this team.  The Blazers would start the scoring in the first with two quick goals and the Rams had to start the second down by two.  Early in the second Belmont would strike again, making it 3-0 but the Rams would not quit.  Still in the second period Addie Fisher would cut the lead to two.  Unfortunately this would be the only goal the Rams would get and Belmont would add another two goals by the end of the game.  The Rams lost 5-1 in the Quarter Finals of this years Provincials to the Provincial champions.  Belmont went on to beat East Lambton in the semi finals and beat Ottawa in the Finals.

The Pee Wee C Girls should not only be proud of how well they did at Provincials but also of an outstanding year.  All the girls on this team improved as individuals and came together as a team.  This team of girls were not the biggest, fastest or most experienced but what they lacked in those areas they made up for in heart.  Many of the coaches from our opponents would say how much they enjoyed playing our team.  These girls were great competitors and always gave it their best.  This year was a great experience and I am glad I was able to help these girls develop into better hockey players and I hope everyone of them come back next year.  GO RAMS!!!!!!
