Houseleague Championships
By Mark Carson. Our girls played their league championships this weekend in Kurtzville and brought home a silver medal. The championship game was against West Grey and it was a nail biter till the very end of the game. The girls were trailing 2-1 with a little over a minute left in the game and coach Nanninga decided it was time to pull Sandra to try to get the tying goal. The girls gave it their all with all kinds of chances in the final minute but just couldn't find a way to score. The girls came up a little short losing 2-1 but played their hearts out. I think coach Nanninga said it best when he came in the dressing room after the game and said to the girls that you may have lost the game but have made your coach very happy.
Great job all weekend and all year girls. For a brand new team to finish 2nd in the regular season and 2nd in the league championships I would say this season was nothing short of outstanding. The success these girls have had is not only in league play as they have been in 2 tournaments and made it to the final 4 in both of those. The girls have now played 40 games this season and have a record of 21-11-8 and have one more tournament left on Easter weekend. Congratulations on a job well done girls!!
