Dec. 6-7 weekend
This past Saturday the Rams played in the Minto tourney.
Their first game was against the Wasaga Beach Stars, the players fought hard but came up short losing to a very strong team from the north 5-0. The Rams were back on the ice a few hours later to play the Ripley Wolves. The team was able to capitalize on their scoring chances and dominated the game to walk away with a 5-0 victory. our team now qualified for the B final against the hometown Minto Mad Dogs. Unfortunately, the players had to get right back on the ice and go to work again with no rest. After spotting the Minto team a 3-0 lead the players dug deep in the 3rd period to knot the game 3-3 and force sudden death. Minto was able to pressure our team early and snuck one past our goalie to claim victory. This game too as the previous was dominated by the Rams, the entire team looks forward to a rematch in the future. All of the players can and should feel proud of their efforts and sportsmanship in the tournament.
On Sunday the team travelled south for a 2:30 tilt versus Goderich. The home team jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first. Our players didn't give up and by the end of the first they had clawed their way back to take the lead 2-1. The second period was scoreless with both teams trading chances. The Rams continued the 3rd with aggressive play and knotched 2 more goals in the early minutes. The remainder of the third saw strong defensive play from the defense and strong goaltending to give the Rams a well deserved 4-1 victory on the road.
