14 Strong
This past weekend the peewee girls were off to the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League Championship Weekend featuring the top 4 teams in the  Peewee C division 2 out of the East Division and 2 out of the West division. This is the dubbed the " Best of the Best" as we are awarded medals for the regular season winners and shirts with that logo on them.

The Weekend started with a familiar opponent the Kitchener Rangers who always make us play our best to beat them but the girls were focused and came ready to play and I mean all 14 girls contributed this was a true 14 girl strong effort nobody would take an easy stride all weekend. This was a back and forth battle but when the buzzer sounded at the end of the game the final was 2-1 for the Rams.

Gm.2  Vs Bancroft the top team from the East Division, so the girls knew they would have to come out flying and they did just that with 3 goals in the first 5 minutes take control of the game. The only problem with that was the girls got ahead of themselves and let Bancroft back into the game to make the final 3-2 and a nail bitter as Bancroft threw everything at the net.

Gm.3 Vs.  Lindsay we already know that with 4 points in the bank we will finish in the top 2 and advance to the finals for the gold medal game. So the focus was on keeping the undefeated season alive and   Lindsay did everything they could even trying to take out 1 of our players with a 2 handed crosscheck. That got her ejected and 2 game suspension. While on the power play Jordy snuck into the slot and fired her first of the season and eventual game winner 1-0 final.  With the coach ejected for arguing a call and a mother in the stands making a idiot of herself by yelling at anyone she could the Rams held on to advance to the gold medal game.

The Finals

Kitchener was able to squeak past Bancroft to advance to the finals to put the top 2 teams in the West Division facing off for the LLFHL Championship this was a very fitting end as both teams have had tremendous seasons. Kitchener has not been able to topple the rams all season but every game has been a 1 goal game so we knew it was going to be tough, but you don't get this far in the seson by giving up. First shift of the game and uh oh 1 missed play at the blue line and 1 of there forwards goes in on a break away and roofs it (great shot) . The girls were shocked and for the next 2 periods it stays 1-0 for them and there goalie has been outstanding in net as she has turned away numerous quality scoring chances. With the 3rd underway the Rams finally get a break and tie it up 1-1 the momentum has swung and the Rams pour it on and with the Rangers on their heels we got the go ahead goal 2-1 Rams. We have the lead and with that the Rams break into defensive mode nothing gets to the net, the rangers put the pressure on but the girls are able to keep the puck away from Bri and with the clock ticking away the Rams hang on for the Victory.

With that victory the Rams went undefeated in LL regular season 20-0-2 with a bye in the first round of the playoffs we swept Grand River 2-0 in the 2nd round. We then advanced to Championship Weekend and went  4-0 to cap off and undefeated LLFHL season 26-0-2. It has been a absolutely fantastic season and it could not have been done without all 14 girls buying into our Rams system this is a team game and every girl on this team played to their fullest potential, and with that the Mount Forest Rams are the LLFHL Pee Wee C champs. Congratulations girls you just put another banner in the arena !!!
