Rams head to provincials on upswing
By Christine Rivet
The Mount Forest bantam C Rams hit the ice on Tuesday and Wednesday for an exhibition home-and-home series with the Orangeville bantam B's.

The speedy Tigers brought out the best in the Rams who assembled two of their finest efforts of the season during Tuesday’s scoreless draw in Orangeville and a 2-2 saw-off on Wednesday in Mount Forest.

“The entire team played great,” said acting head coach Mandi F. “It was so nice to see the girls put together a solid series of back-to-back games before we head to provincials.

“The coaches all know what we can do if the girls put their minds to it. Now, it’s time for the other teams to see it, too.”

The Rams went with a short bench through both games due to injuries. But that only seemed to stoke their fire.

On Tuesday in Orangeville, it took a period for the visitors to find their groove and before they responded to a spirited Tigers attack.

The next night, the Rams charged out of the chute. Chloe K.  raced down the ice on the game's first shift and fired a rocket on net as linemate Peyton M. crashed the crease to deposit the rebound.

Rams captain Kyla P. scored the game-tying goal following her spirited end-to-end rush in the game’s final minutes few minutes.

The coaches presented the team’s Hard Hat Award to the entire roster on Wednesday for the squad’s exemplary work. Peyton donned the Super Girl Cape.

The Mount Forest girls are back on the ice Sunday at 6 p.m. and Monday at 7 p.m. for practices before the provincial championships in Oakville on April 8-10.
