Rams battle in wilmot
The Rams headed to Wilmot this weekend to take on a daunting eight team challenge challenge against our hockey friends from the south.

The formidable Flamborough Falcons were the eventual tournament champions and a tough group of girls to start against. Their  defence shut down every challenge our forwards could muster and inevitably their counters eventually broke thru. Flamborough #9 made no mistake on her net drive and deeked  a nice backhand over Sandra's blocker halfway thru the first. Our team held tough thru the rest of the game, but late in the third the Flamborough girls make good on a breakaway to cement their win 2 - 0. MVP went to Brianna whose backchecking efforts were outstanding.
Game two started with our girls battle hardened from the first game and ready to best the host team Wilmot. The game hit full gear from puck drop and the well balanced game went end to end til midway thru the first when Evelyn scored a goal off the goalie's skate from a hard angle.
Wilmot wasted no time tying the game on a rebound scramble two minutes later but Makenna fed a nice lead pass to Courtney who made good on her breakaway to finish the first up 2 - 1.  The Wilmot girls came back hard tying the game in the second but giving up a few errors giving Rachel a full throttle breakaway but no goal. The tie game went til midway thru the third when a backhand pass from Brooke found Taryns stick who fired a game winner to give us a chance to get to the semi's. MVP went to Sage for her best offensive game so far.
Third matchup was against the Waterloo Ravens undefeated in their home loop and bristling with offensive talent.
But the Ram girls have some serious backbone when facing off against a big, challenging team. The Waterloo offence was relentless with Sandra facing a 35 shot game despite the best defensive game of our year. The eventual 1-0 loss to the eventual tournament runner up was a game to be proud of for the Rams, but finishing our chances.
It was a well spent weekend, the fans and staff enjoyed the show and I think everyone would agree it is a pleasure  to be a part of this team.
