Kincardine Regional Silver Stick
From December 27-30 the Mount Forest Novice Rep Rams were in Ripley for the 30th anniversay of the Kincardine Regional Silver Stick   The Rams were placed in a group with Listowel, Elmvale and Tavistock.  First game was against Listowel.  Mount Forest owned the majority of the good scoring chances but couldn't beat the Listowel goalie.  Finally at the mid point of the 2nd Mount Forest broke through with a short handed goal by Jake McLeod, unassisted.   The Rams kept pressuring Listowel and continued to own the puck but couldn't get an insurance goal.  With 5 minutes left in the game Listowel got a bounce in front and were able to put the puck in to an empty net   The game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The next day the Rams were up against the Elmvale Coyotes.   From the drop of the puck the Rams were all over Elmvale getting chance after chance but again came up against a hot goalie and not able to score.   Finally at the 2:12 mark of the 2nd Lucas Ciavarella broke through with a goal assisted by Luke McCarey.  The Rams would then add 3 more goals as they continued to take it to Elmvale ending the game with a 4-0 win.  Other goals scored by Spencer ODell assisted by Keagan Stewart.   Jake McLeod scored the 3rd goal unassisted and the 4th scored by Lucas Ciavarella, assisted by Luke McCarey.   Earning the shutout, Brian Ferguson earned a Silver Stick Top Performer award!!!
Next up the Rams faced a tough team from Tavistock needing a tie to assure themselves a spot in the semi finals.   This game was fast and furious right from the start as the teams traded chances back and forth.   Tavistock opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead in the first.   A quick goal to start the 2nd by Luke McCarey tied the game up with assists going to Jake McLeod.   Less than a minute later Tavistock went back up by a goal to take a 2-1 lead then got another goal before the end of the period to take a 3-1 lead in to the 3rd period.  Mount Forest then applied all the pressure in the 3rd and were awarded when Luke McCarey scored his 2nd of the game with assists going to Lucas Ciavarella and Luke Parker to bring the Rams within 1.   Then with 4:44 left Lucas Ciavarella scored the game tieing goal.   The Rams pressed on to try to get the win and Keagan Stewart managed to hit the post and crossbar on the same shot and then followed up by hitting the other post about 10 seconds later as the puck came back to him again.   Tough luck!!   The Rams got their tie and assured themselves a spot in the semi finals against the Saugeen Shores Storm
The Rams have played the Storm twice and know they need to bring their best game to have any chance at beating them.  Unfortunatly a very strong Saugeen Shores completely shut down anything the Rams tried and cruised to a 7-0 victory knocking the Rams out of the tournament
The kids played very well and should be proud of themselves for their effort they put forth in the tournament and the way they represented the town.   Good job boys!!!
