After having last weekend off the Atom Girls hit the road this weekend to continue their regular season.
Saturday the girls travelled to Seaforth to take on one of the strongest teams in their loop, the Huron Heat. The girls played hard but struggled getting the puck out of their zone. Although the Rams lost the contest 4-0, they played some good hockey other than the 15 seconds before each goal.
Now to Sunday, the girls travelled to the city to take on the Waterloo Ravens, a team we had not played yet this season. We have struggled getting that first goal this year to give us some confidence for the remainder of the game. Following some reminders in the room that included, let's strike first, the girls came to play and got a good number of shots off. As the clock winded down in the first, Ashley K. took 2 maybe 3 swats at the puck and yes she scored. Outstanding effort and not giving up scored this goal and that is what it takes to win hockey games. Mt. Forest would add another goal late in the second from Megan P. to take a 2-0 lead. The girls kept playing hard in the third and had numerous chances to score but couldn't buy another one. The game ended a 2-0 win for the well deserved Rams. Today's win was huge in many ways, snapping a losing streak, or maybe just simply putting forth a good all around team effort. Good job girls keep working hard!!
