Silver Medals
This past weekend the girls travelled to Aylmer to play in the B.A.D. girls tournament.

The Rams started action Friday morning at 11:00 vs the Lambton Attack. Our team had control of the game from the outset but just couldn't find the back of the net and lost a tough one 1-0 to open the tourney. Later that day we played the Mount Brydges Cougars and much like the first game had many scoring chances. The girls skated to a 3-1 win and got themselves back in the tournament. That night a good number of players and parents attended the JR A Knights game and enjoyed watching some very good hockey with good company.
Saturday's first game was against Waterloo who the Rams play in their regular season Lower Lakes B loop. This was a very good game right from the start. Great play from both teams resulted in a 2-2 tie at the final buzzer. Our final round robin game that afternoon was against Belmont another B team the girls have faced this year. Having lost to Belmont 3-1 and 5-0 we all knew this was going to be a tough match and it was just that. After falling behind 2-0 the girls dug deep and potted 2 goals midway through the third to tie the game 2-2. At the end of the third these girls earned a well deserved 2-2 tie. It should be noted that in this game the Lady Rams killed off two 5-3 penalty kills and also played shorthanded for the final 1:50 to preserve the tie. Without question this was this young team's best game of the season.
Since our tournament group was a mixture of B and C teams, the girls finished in first place of the C teams which put them into the final on Sunday vs Mount Brydges. This game was what every final should be competitive and a great game for the fans to watch. Mount Brydges would strike first but shortly after our girls would answer back and tie the game 1-1 entering the second. Our girls would take the lead midway through the period and start the final frame clinging to a 2-1 lead. Mount Brydges would even the score at the 3;36 mark of the third and just a mere 35 seconds later get another one to take a 3-2 lead and eventually hang on to claim victory. Unfortunately for our girls we would walk away with Silver. These girls played some very spirited hockey this weekend and can hold their heads high wearing their Silver Medals. It was a great weekend had by all and a lot of fun. Good job girls!
