Grand RiverMustangs Classic Tournament
Friday morning found the Novice girls ready to do battle with Guelph Gryphons. With the team trailing 2-1 in the dying minutes Catlin Tran found a lose puck in the crease and banged it home to tie the game. Final 2-2.
Friday afternoon the opposition was the Saugeen Shores Storm. Grace Holliday and Amberlee Moore led the scoring with 2 goals each. Singles went Ava Rice, Myah Radjocin, Julia Gilbert, Nykoya Brodrech, and Faith Fuller. Final score 9-0. The defensive play of Anna Aitken,Madeline Lillico, Abby Morrison, Catlin Tran and Ava Rice helped in preserving the shut out for goalie Laura Nanninga.


Game 3 was an 8am start on Saturday morning. A win would propel the girls into the Gold medal game on Sunday. The girls came out flying, led by Amberlee Moore's 5 goals. Singles were notched by Grace Holliday, Catlin Tran and Ava Rice. Final 8-1.

Sunday afternoon's gold medal game was a rematch against the Guelph Gryphons. The Guelph team came out flying and took an early lead. The Rams responded with a goal by Grace Holliday. Guelph scored 2 more before Catlin Tran narrowed the score to 3-2 after one period.
The Gryphons scored 2 more before Julia Gilbert scored to make it a 5-3 game. Despite a great effort in the 3rd period the final was 6-3 Guelph.

A great weekend for the team,  a lot of hard work, laughs and giggles from the girls. Oh yes and a Silver Medal.
