Tenacious Tie
The Mount Forest Rams did not want to give up on a win but had to settle for a tie against the Blyth-Brussels Crusaders today in Mount Forest.
Persistent defence and aggressive offence was not enough to enable the Rams to obtain the victory, so the game was settled at 2-2 after an overtime period.
Winger, #77 Mason C. had the lone first period goal, assisted by #14 Griffen Y. and #16 Madden B.
Guarding the mesh for the Rams in today's game was #1 Silas S. He kept the Crusaders off the board until the second period, when they tied the game on a power play goal. Centreman #16 Madden B. responded quickly with a goal of his own with 1:36 on the clock.
The Rams dominated the third period with multiple shots but just couldn't find the back of the net. Defence squads, for the Rams, battled hard and protected the slot but unfortunately, the Crusaders scored with two minutes left in the game.
The overtime period was exciting and full of many opportunities for the Rams, but the tie was to be the result of today's effort. The Rams will be hoping for a "Hail Mary" this week for their playoff race to stay alive.
