Though the weather outside was 'frightful', the games went on!

The Mount Forest Atom Rams hosted the annual Atom tournament this Saturday, and in spite of a snowy start to the day, all teams managed to attend and play for the coveted cup.

Game #1 saw Woolwich Wildcats come on strong, but goalie Rourke met them head on. Combined with daring defence, and amazing goal tending, the Rams held the opposition until well into the first period. Then the Wildcats managed to throw two in, middle of the first. Rams retaliated with a goal shot in by forward Cole Whitten, assisted by defenceman Ben Wildeman. Another for the opposition resulted in a 3-1 score, bottom of the first.

Second period action saw the Rams rally when Eli McCook got lucky with a shot fired off the goalie glove, and rebounding off the post (assist #2 for Wildeman!), to narrow the margin to one goal. Woolwich returned, in kind, and bottom of the 2’nd score was 4-2

Middle of the third, defenceman Garrason Lewis took the puck and put it where it belonged, and the Rams were back in the game. While it looked promising, the last moments of the game resulted in a win for Woolwich 6:3

Game #2

The Rams met the New Hamburg Huskies just after lunch on Saturday in what would be their last game. Huskies winning 5-0

*Special thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped make this tournament a huge success!
