Another day off school, on the way to St Catherine's for hockey. First game against our hosts. A shut out for Monica and its 6 -0 for the Rams. It was slow start scoring one goal per period, then we got our legs back for sitting for a two hour ride. Four goals in the third. Amy, Miranda, Elyse(2), Nicole, and Emily scoring. With good reffing no penalities for either side.
Off to the hotel for pot luck and refreshments. Nobody likes sauerkraut! Jim makes great ceaser salad, if you got any.
Second game Friday night against West Seneca from New York. Emma in net. They scored first with one minute left in the first period. lots of shots for both sides. We score in the second and the third to make 2-1. With three minutes left, they score making it a tie 2-2. Elyse, Natalie scoring.
Back to hotel in the dungeon for refreshments. There was lots of strategy and chips. I like chips! Girls to bed early.
Saturday morning we play Stoney Creek. Monica in between the pipes. This was a very frustrating game with our Referee. I think she only saw the Rams and not the Sabres. We get three penalties in the first, none for them. We finally score in the second. I think the Ref finally heard Jim as did all four rinks! The Sabres got six penalties in the second and third and we win 2 -1. Carmen, Miranda scoring.
Jim being Mr. Hockey, stays after the game to find out when we play next. We are the first in our loop by 0.56 points. We get to play Guelph in the semi's Sunday morning. They are first in their Lower Lakes loop. No worries, more strategizing in the dungeon tonight. Its pretty quiet from other tournaments, everyone is shopping!!! With a lot of card playing and our Captain Nicole learning to play euchre. Lots of fun and more chips. It was nice to see Dale (not Eccles) talk and try to keep up to Todd! Who was doing all the pouring anyways? We can't forget the pizza. It had a 24 oz can of olives on it.
Early Sunday morning the puck drops at 9am. Guelph gave us a great game, back and forth. Emma is the goal tender. No scoring in the first, the Rams score in the bottom of the second, Carmen scoring. A really good game with Rams winning 1-0! Off to the finals.
Cleaning up, a little dungeon time and we go off to have a team lunch. Again pretty quiet, no one spilling, or being thrown out. The parents must have matured!
We get to play USA!! again West Seneca. The girls came out, score in the first, Elyse assisted by Jess. Just what we need, we always do better when we score first. Guess what? We score again, Elyse assisted by Miranda. Guess what Monica has another shut out! We win 2-0!!! Doesn't Canada always win again the States?
Well done girls! Hard work pays off. Consistency, Control, Confidence! We are going to do it again in Stratford!
