Mount Forest Rams bantam C’s shook off the rust from a 12-day layoff and downed
the visiting Guelph Jr. Gryphons bantam B’s 2-1 in exhibition play on Friday.
“We looked like we hadn’t played in 12 days and some of the crispness wasn’t there in our execution but the girls worked hard from start to finish,” coach Bill said.
Centre Carley C. led the attack with a goal and an assist.
Mount Forest opened the scoring when Carley fired a hard spinarama backhand from the right side wall and Peyton M. one timed it home early in the first period.
The Rams made it 2-0 when Hailey H. was foiled on a breakaway only to have Carley chip home the rebound.
Alyssa V. picked up her 30th win of the season.
“It was a tough, physical game and those are the kind that we need to play as we get ready for our three remaining tournaments,” coach Bill said.
“The better teams we play, the better we get.”
The Rams are back in action when they host the Chatsworth Township Rebels on Thursday in a WOAA league game.
