Penalty Kill Scoring Frenzy
Submitted By Dale MacVicar on Sunday, November 08, 2009
November 7 the Bantam LL Rams took to home ice versus Saugeen Shores and came out on top once again.

The home boys were sharp again and it showed as they fought off the 14 minutes of penalties they took during the 40 minute game, while the visitors had 4, plus a 10 minute mouth guard infraction in the final 4 minutes of the game.

Both teams worked hard throughout the first 5 minutes of the game keeping the score even at 0. Then with 5:33 remaining in the first Rams #15 Davin P picked up the puck at center ice and headed into the opposing end alone beating the Shores goalie. Not to be outdone, #24 Gavin M took the puck in the Mount Forest end and traveled to the Shores end to give the home team a 2 - 0 lead with 3:44 remaining in the first. With just 2:44 left in the first #9 Keith H scored a third unassisted goal to put the home team on top 3 - 0 going into the second.

The visitors made a quick start to the second with a goal at 12:58. The second remained scoreless until the final 40 seconds when #21 Willson F took an awesome pass from #20 Macauley H in front of the Shores net to punch the puck past the goalie, giving the Rams 4 - 1 lead. The visitors fought back with 28 seconds left to score a second goal for the Saugeen Shores team.

The home team was not finished when at 8:40 remaining in the third #24 went over the blue line to take a shot on goal only to have the visitor goalie stop the puck, but the home team was playing teamwork all game and #20 Macauley H was there to catch the rebound and fire the puck over the goal line, giving the home side a 5 - 2 lead. The final goal of the game came at 3:52 as #19 Evan H took a break away puck in to give the home side another unassisted goal. Goaltender #1 Nathan M was strong throughout the entire game making some great saves, while the defence team was there keeping the opposition at bay. Another great game boys!

Home ice has been the advantage for this team in the early stages of this the 2009 - 2010 season. The coming weekend will be a new challenge as the team has a game every night on each Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Rest up boys, and see you at the rink!
