Boys win big 5-2 vs Cyclones!
Submitted By Kevin Rice on Saturday, December 18, 2010
Saturday afternoon seen the Peewee boys taking on the Listowel Cyclones in their first meeting of the season.

After having a rough couple of weeks the boys came out strong against the Cyclones squad with the Big wrist shot from Carsten Cottingham starting the scoring off a few minutes into the first period. This was the 2nd goal in as many  games for Carsty. Assists went to Chris Kelly and Daniel Conrad.
The boys played strong for the rest of the period and skated away at the end of the first with a 1-0 lead.
Aidan Felsbourg popped a nice shot off the draw in to give the Rams a 2-0 lead with assists going to Conrad and Zack Hess. Listowel came back 46 seconds later on a tipped shot that just beat netminder Tyler Rice. 46 seconds after that Conrad again gave the home team a 2 goal lead with a nice shot over the sprawling Cyclones goalie. Assists to Devon Morgan and Cottingham.
Jordon Allen then put the Rams ahead by 3 when the Listowel goalie mishandled the puck and AJ was there on his doorstep to pound it in.
Kyle Hieber put a hard wrister in 27 seconds later to add to the Rams lead with assists going to Hess and Allen.

The boys were getting ready  to go back to the room with a comfortable 4 goal lead when we got a little sloppy in our own end and Listowel cut the deficit to 5-2 with 11 seconds left in the second.

With an "upper body injury" to defencemen David Scott, the boys had to go out and play the 3rd period short a D man.
The Rams continued the pressure all period and although we didn't add any more scoring to the game sheet, I was very proud of the way all the kids kept their cool while the opposing players were getting a little choppy knowing the game was out of reach.
Tyler Rice continued to be sharp between the pipes and it was a very good effort by the team as a whole.

The Peewees will travel to Milverton on Sunday. The last game between these teams ended in a tie and the Rams are looking forward to getting another shot against these guys.

Keep up the hard work boys.

Kevin
