Girls pull out win with short bench
The MoFo Girls travelled to Ayton for their pre Christmas get together on Thursday the 17th. The game stayed quite even for the first 20 minutes with action at both ends of the ice. Nearing the end of the second Deanna Heiber worked the puck into the offensive end where Lizzie Gerrie won the battle in the corner and made a perfect pass to Danielle Grotenhuis who made no mistake with 2.22 on the clock.
Intermission did the short bench some good and the girls came out flying in the 3rd period. Just a minute and a half into the period Stephanie Penney filling in on defence took a Grotenhuis pass and threaded the needle through many legs and right pass the Normanby goalie before she had time to realize what happened.
5 minutes later while short handed Penney perserverence paid off as she worked pass several opposing players and earned a breakaway; she took a hard shot, picked up the rebound and then picked up her own rebound again before she found the mesh to make it 3 - 0 for team MoFo.
The team came home a little tired and bruised but had their 2 points to show for it.
