Orangeville Tigers Sweetheart Tournament "BB" Championship Winners!
Submitted By dbridgwater on Sun 01 29, 12
Our Bantam "B" girls battled hard to win the Orangeville tournament again this year. But this year was a little more special.

The tournament didn't have enough teams for a "B" loop, so we went into the "BB" loop. First game was against Stoney Creek, Friday night. Carmen had her chili before the game and came out on fire and scored two goals and were assisted by Amy and Elyse. Shut out No. 1 for Gemily and voted MVP!

Saturday afternoon in the middle of a snow storm we swam against the Niagara Falls Rapids. Score two to one for us.  Elyse and Amy are on the board assisted by Brooke-Lynn and PC. The Rapids were fierce in the storm but the Rams finished them off and we went on to play Guelph later in the afternoon. MVP to Carmen!

We enjoyed a nice team lunch together but there was alot of noise coming from the other side of the restaurant. As we complained to management, they stated it was another group from Mt Forest. Who would have thought the Atom girls would make so much noise! There were some girls who have a bad habit of shooting on the goalies chest. We can't score this way. So Elyse, Carmen and PC had to do push ups in the middle of the restaurant. Carmen was happy, she found a french fry on the floor, she was hungry.

We were on the only team in the loop to have two wins, we had to get through Guelph to be part of the Championship game the next day. Coach Donald had to leave early to tend to his own flock and left Coach Derek shaking. The girls were tired but finished the game in a no goal tie. MVP Femily aka Killer!

Girls were told to get some sleep, eat properly and get some water into them. Coach Donald is back and we were going to show Guelph what we should have done to them the day before. We had a great pre-game talk and girls have proven they are ready. A minute into the game Raegan snipes one from the blue line to score. I'm not sure but I thought I heard one of thier coaches say "wat happened?" Elyse captures another goal assisted by PC and Carmen for a two nothing score. Coach Donald wants one more for insurance. Guelph has a bad change and had left our Jen out there all alone, flying in on a breakaway and picks the left corner for goal No. three. The referees feel they need to start calling penalties now. Unfortunately Elyse and Raegan are in the box and its a five on three game. The girls work hard to kill off the penalties with thoughts of visiting Dairy Queen on Coach Derek's Tab. One minute left, they pull their goalie. We finally get the puck out of our end to Carmen. She turns on the wheels has a breakaway to the net and gets tripped in front of the net before she can shoot. All I am thinking is penalty shot, penalty shot. I am DUMB! There is no goalie in net and it's an automatic goal! Mount Forest Rams win the tourney!!! MVP goes to Raegan. Gemily gets her third shut out and only one against all weekend!

The girls battled hard all weekend and are ready to go to Trenton this week for International Silverstick. Thanks to the fans, parents and grandparents coming out to support our team. Special thanks to Trish, Wendy, Todd and Coach Donald!

Last year we were finalists, this year, we plan on being Champions! Good work, you all worked hard and it paid off! Long live Dairy Queen! Watch out Trenton Dairy Queen, we are coming for a visit!!
