into the arena’s this weekend. A big thank you also goes out to
our tournament sponsor H. Bye Construction.

Atom C – Mt Forest Rams vs TCDMHA Rebels – 9:30am
The Rams started early with a goal scored by Megan Parker at the 9:30 mark. The Rams found themselves in the penalty box, but the fight and determination of these girls resulted in a shorthanded goal at 2:04, scored by Jayme Boyd and assisted by Kate Crispin. End of the 1st period the Rams were leading 2-0. The Rebels found the net in the 2nd period at 6:01 with a goal scored by Allison Hoy and assisted by Lyndsay Cumming. End of the 2nd period the Rams were still in the lead 2-1. At 7:07 Boyd scored the Rams 3rd goal, assisted by Parker. But the Rebels were not finished and came back at the 5:29 mark with an unassisted goal by Cummings. The last 5 minutes of the game was back and forth between both teams with plenty of excitement, and the fans in the stands going wild. MacKenzie Burke was solid in net and was not letting anything by. Our forward lines, Brynne Tangney, Megan Parker, Jayme Boyd, Kate Crispin, Karlee Rice, Avery Moyer, Brianna Goldschmidt and Macy Howes worked hard to keep the puck in the Rebels end and keep ahead of them the whole game. The defenders Haven Tangney, Josie Musselman, Natalie Weiser and Cassidy North were solid to keep the Rebels shots to a minimum. MacKenzie Burke, a 2nd year player and goalie, was on her game with amazing goaltending throughout the whole tournament. The game went to the Mt Forest Rams with a final score of 3-2. Congratulations champs!!!
Pee Wee – Mt Forest Rams vs Walkerton Capitals – 11:00am
The Rams and Capitals took to the ice on Championship Sunday resulting in an epic battle. These 2 teams are very evenly matched which led to a fantastic hockey game. This was a back and forth battle from the start with goals very hard to come by. The pace was fast and end to end with no real advantage for either side. After 3 periods of play, still no score to be recorded for either team. This led to a 5 minute overtime period, 5 on 5, which also ended with no score. Next up was a 5 minute period of 4 on 4, sudden death over time. But once again, a goal was not in the cards for either side. So the only way to settle this battle was a shootout. Each team picked 3 shooters. First up for Mount Forest, Chaise McRobb - fake right, fake left, shoots and scores high blocker side!! At the same time Walkerton's shooter was looking for a goal, only to be poke checked by Mount Forest goalie Brianna Gordon. Shooter #2 on deck, Carley Crispin, good shot but denied by Walkerton's goalie. Shooter #2 for Walkerton was also denied by Brianna. Down to the final 2 shooters of the game and Abby Durward-Marious for Mount Forest skates it down the ice with the head fake and puts a snap shot over the goalie's glove and the win is sealed for Mount Forest! Shooter #3 for Walkerton was denied again. The entire team worked extremely hard this weekend to earn the first Girls Classic title. Our defense Lexi Walker, Jordyn Storey, Bailey Hodgins, Alexis Mills and Abby Durward-Marious did a fantastic job of keeping the puck out of our end and making smart plays up to forwards Chaise McRobb, Chloe Roy, Tori Van Tol, Alyssa Aitken, Lexi Rice, Shea Lynn McLean and Brianna Gorman who all kept the pressure on in the other end. And last but definitely not least, our stellar goalie Brianna Gordon who is always rock solid between the pipes.
Bantam C – TCDMHA Rebels vs East Lambton Eagles– 12:30pm
The Bantam championship game saw two tough and solid teams playing against each other. In the 1st period the Rebels scored 2 goals at the 8:26 and 5:19 mark, both goals were unassisted by Kirsten Sutter. Period 2 saw a lot of back and forth, and strong goaltending by both teams. Neither team were able to find the net in this period. Period 3 saw Kirsten Sutter score her 3rd goal of the game at 9:48. Great play by both teams and in the end the championship went to TCDMHA.
