Novice Rep boys are Minto tournament consolation Champions!
The Novice Rep team took part in the Minto novice tournament on Sunday December 13.  The boys first game was against a very spirited team from Twin Centre.  Twin Centre opened the scoring in the first period, Mount Forest fought back to tie the score on a goal by Gavyn Stevenson assisted by Tanner Gordon.  Twin Centre got one more before the end of the period to be up by one.  The game was back and forth with good scoring chances at both ends of the ice.  Morgan Troyer playing net for Mount Forest came up with a couple of game saves.  Twin Centre scored another goal in the third period to be up 3-1.  Mount Forest pulled their goalie and with 56 seconds left William Black scored assisted by Thomas Brown making the score 3-2!  With the goalie still out of the net Mount Forest just ran out of time, losing 3-2.  Throughout the game Anthony Kelly and Evan Dewar forechecked relentlessly in the opponents end forcing the play.  Great team effort by all with MVP honours going to Alex Iles. 
The second game had Mount Forest facing Ripley, who is in first place in their league.  Mount Forest came out strong taking a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Kelly assisted by Brown and Rourke Elliott unassisted on a breakaway.  Brown sored in the second assisted by Stevenson to make it 3-0 heading into the third.  Mount Forest defence of Iles, Gordon, Ty Duncan, and Sam Bye were stellar, preventing Ripley shooters from penetrating the Mount Forest zone.


Ripley scored 2 goals to make it a 3-2 game.  Mount Forest called a timeout to settle the boys down.  Troyer had to come up big on a few occasions.  Stevenson sealed the victory with a goal assisted by Elliott.  MVP honours went to Troyer.
The Consolation championship game was played against Hanover.  This was a hard fought 3-0 victory for Mount Forest, goals scored by Stevenson with one, Black with two, assists by Brown and Iles with 2 apiece, singles to Gordon and Elliott.  Troyer earned the shutout.
