Weekend Reminders
Winter has finally arrived! That means Christmas is only a couple of days away and we are going to celebrate with our Canadian Tire Shopping Spree.
CANADIAN TIRE SHOPPING SPREE
On Sunday, Moms and Dads, Grandparents, friends and neighbors can donate their Canadian Tire money and we will use it to buy presents. This way EVERYONE can enjoy the magic of Christmas - even our friends in this area who might otherwise go without.
Coach Jim has been asked if cash can be donated - YES it can! Canadian Tire Mount Forest has generously offered to match whatever CT dollars we bring in, so other funds will just add to the joy we can deliver! REMEMBER - we will walk to the arena after the game, do our shopping and walk back. Parents are invited to join us if they so choose.
ATTENDANCE AT GAMES/PRACTICES
With this wonderful White Stuff comes some fun hockey treks. There are also family commitments and Coach Jim is understanding to these. However, attendance at practices should not be considered optional. Basic skills and strategies needed in game situations are taught and honed, which means missing a practice could mean you are out of the loop for the next game.
MFMH has heard our plea for full ice and will be offering us various ice times in the coming weeks. This means you could get an email saying practice is a different night and time. Because we have asked for this change, it is very important for ALL of our players to be out at these practices so MFMH understands how much we appreciate and need this full ice time.
In a similar vein - Coach Jim needs to know when players are going to be absent. Whether it's a drill in practice or planning for a game, a missing player you were expecting causes a lot of last minute changes. Please advise him if your player cannot attend - 519-323-7591 is the cell - which is usually on him at all times.
At present - we only have one player indicating he cannot attend this Saturday's game in Kincardine. If there is anyone else who has a conflict, please advise ASAP. Believe me, there is NOTHING worse than driving 90 minutes towards the lake to find out you haven't got enough kids to play!!!!!!!!!!
PARTICIPATING IN PRACTICES
All players are required to stay on the ice for the duration of the practice. Coaching staff is on ice with the rest of the players and cannot be expected to leave the structure of the practice to attend to a player who opts not to participate. This, of course, does not apply to injured players, or players who require attention for an equipment issue.
A player who leaves the ice will the responsibility of the parent. Players may not stay in the dressing room unsupervised. As far as what you will miss in practice - it's no different than if you didn't attend practice and you will be behind for the next game. If this becomes a pattern, prepare to have consequences! When you come to practice, be ready to work! The fun comes along when the job is well done and you can see the improvement!
IN CLOSING
The team is having a GREAT season so far. There have been a number of improvements. However, this is only December and Coach Jim has a great deal of ice he wants to cover with these little warriors - so here's to more hard work, more fun and a lot more WINS!
See you at the Arena,
Sarah
