Another Great Weekend for the Rams
Over the weekend the Atom Reps took part in the South Huron Tournament.  Their schedule was 3 games on Saturday against the host South Huron Sabres, the Wingham Ironmen and the Lucan Irish.

The Rams came out and dominated the Sabres from the drop of the puck winning convincingly 6-0.  The only thing that overshadowed Jacksen McKenzie's shutout was Evan Dewar's 6 goal effort!

The second game matched two undefeated teams against one another.  The Wingham Ironmen and the Rams traded goals to start the second period but it was the Ironmen with a late goal in the stanza that gave Wingham the 2-1 lead heading into the third.  The Rams - aka the Cardiac Kids - again came out strong in the 3rd with 3 unanswered goals - taking the game 4-2 - with Ashton Hall notching the winner on a nice wrist shot.

The 3rd game of the day was against the Lucan Irish.  The boys had trouble getting their legs going - but a beautiful end to end rush by Owen Moyer gave the Rams the lead and the lift they needed.  It remained 1-0 until the 3rd when the Reps tacked on two more insurance goals making the final 3-0.  With the win it guaranteed the Atoms a spot in the semi-finals on Sunday.

After some well deserved rest and relaxation the Rams took on the Listowel Cyclones.  The rest gave the Reps a spark with Luke Eurig scoring twice in the first giving the good guys a 2-0 lead.  Mount Forest pressured the Cyclones for most of the game and held off a late third period charge defeating them 2-1.

Next was the finals - a rematch against the hosts South Huron Sabres.
Being in their own beds and in their own arena proved to be an advantage for the Sabres.  The Reps came out flat showing signs of playing 4 games in a 24 hour period.  After a scoreless first the Sabres struck in the second - then the start of several questionable calls began against the Rams.  The Sabres quickly struck again pushing the lead to 2-0.
What happens to good teams? They never give up - and Mount Forest is a very good team.  Dewar with help from Brent Hieber brought the boys within one.  The Rams pressured South Huron hemming them into their own end. Finally before the period was over Eurig took matters into his own hands putting it high over the Sabres tender's blocker tieing it at 2-2.
New to the Atoms was a flood between the 2nd and 3rd periods that staled the Rams momentum they had gained.  The 3rd period the Rams although visibly tired brought everything they had - dominating play but unable to score.  It was 2-2 at the end of regulation.
Onto progressive overtime - beginning with 4 on 4 - again questionable officiating was at the forefront.  The grit of the Rams was evident as they took control of overtime but could not score.  Next was 3 on 3 and then 2 on 2.
True to overtime - the Sabres caught a bad bounce off a skate and rolled one into the Rams net - 3-2 final.

After dominating the tournament, the first loss of the year for the Atom Reps was a bitter one but was also a display of grit, determination and effort.  Proving that there are no easy games against the Mount Forest Atom Rep Rams!

Great Tournament Rams!
