WHAT A WAY TO START THE MONTH OF DECEMBER
Dec 1st saw the Rams in Wingham for game 1 of the Wingham Silver Stick Tournament. The Rams have been showing steady improvement on the ice even though it has not been showing up in the win column. Sunday it all came together in a 4-3 win over the Walkerton Capitals.
The first period started with Walkerton controlling the play, but a quick outlet pass sprung Will Lewis on a breakaway. Lewis buried the puck in the net for a 1-0 lead. This encouraged the Rams and their play just started to get better and better. A solid 2nd period and good start to the third period had the Rams cruising in front 4-0.
But the old saying "it ain't over till its over" came into play as Walkerton stormed back with 3 unanswered goals. Thankfully Owen Morgan was able to slam the door shut and preserve the win for the Rams.
Player of the game for the Rams as picked by the Silver Stick Committee was Elliott McCarrey.
