A fast start against the Sabres
The Mount Forest girls came out flying this game, lots of chasing and blocking pucks. It was going to be a high energy game with great plays.
At 7.25 min a great glove save of Ashley, showed that the pressure went both ways on the ice. As the South Huron Sabres answered, a foot save from Jenna protected the Rams and the game turned again. A nice pass from Becca to Payton and her shot got their goalie spread out like an eagle on the goal line with a rebound but no luck for the Rams.
A face off shot comes hard out to Jordyn, Ally is there to help out, pass to Sam and another great try. The Sabres try to turn it around but Payton is there to intercept and her shot is high and bounce over the net and the girls in black have no choice but to ice it. But the Rams luck did not last and with an unlucky turn of evens with 4.09 min left on the clock, the first goal is for the Sabres.
The Rams don't give up and with a great intercept from Emily and a pass to Sam, who turned it over to Payton they come up with a great play, but her shot just comes up short. The Rams defence has their hands full and with a awesome show of patience, Kiawna takes that second look and comes up with a pass that exactly went where it was supposed to go! Too many times blind passes takes the wind out of the Rams sails but today they showed that it is there.
As the second period comes on strong, another great shift has Natalie and Becca pushing through with Gillian right behind, unfortunately it was Gillian who ended in the net instead of the puck. Good shots keep going back and forward the Sabres are unrelentless but the Rams answer and take lots of control in the game.
Ally shows great strength on the boards and is a force to be reckoned with, the girls get a chance for a breakaway but an unlucky touch of the puck by their own player turns the game on a dime and the first hard shot is stopped by Ashley but she could not hang on the rebound, 0-2 with just a few more minutes to play in the second.
Jenna tries with a hard shot the just went wide. The blue line girls are working hard Jordyn as well keeps giving those long beautiful shots.
Good reflexes where shown by Savannah along the boards but a few seconds later the shows to be quite the trooper as the Sabres run her hard into it and she just shakes it off! Anna gives it her all and works her way forward with Danielle trying to keep up the pressure.
As the game goes on the Rams show signs of wear and tear and the passing goes down with it and the game suffers at the end of the second period.
But they have not given up and a great pass from Jordyn to Sam get them to the net from the girls in black but they answer and have Ashley on her knees when the rams slacked with a shot through the middle. A nasty punch has Gillian bouncing in the boards, and with the girls in white having a 5 on 4, some real pressure and lots of shots are going towards the net, good play but no luck getting it behind the line. As the game goes on into the late third period a shot from the blue line trickles in the Rams net. They get another great chance on the black net but again stopped by their goalie.
But this was an exciting game that had all the chances but not the finishes...yet.
