Big Weekend for Boys
This past weekend was very successful for the boys as they finished 2nd in the Minto tournament that was held in Palmerston and also won in league play as they shut out Ripley 4-0 with a big game from Aidan F as he notched a goal and 3 assists.

Saturday seen the boys take to the ice against Ripley and Mount Forest dominated from the opening face off and carried the play from start to finish with Aidan F. leading the way with a goal and 3 assists.
Justin C, Daniel C. and Chris K. also scored for Mount forest , with Alex D. adding the other assist.
Kurtis S. and Ty R. combined for the shut out.

The boys then headed to Palmerston for the Minto Atom Tournament with an early 8 am game against the host club to start the day.
Ben Z. opened the scoring unassisted in the first period, followed by a pair of goals by Alex D. and another by Aidan F. in the 3rd to open the tournament with a 4-0 win. Assists went to Quentin K. Daniel C. and Carsten C.
Again the shut out was earned by Tyler R. and Kurtis S.
Aidan F. was selected MVP of the game.

The 2nd game of the day seen the boys take on a team out of Elma-Logan.
It was a very tight back and forth game until Aidan F. opened the scoring halfway through the 2nd period with the assist going to Daniel C.
Elma - Logan came back 1 minute and 14 seconds later to notch it up at 1.
The third period was again back and forth and I think i can speak for all parents and spectators in the stands by saying it was nerve wracking to say the least and it looked like we were going to have overtime until Daniel C. popped one past the tender with only 22 seconds left in the game.
With the Elma - Logan goalie pulled Mount Forest held off the extra man attack to win 2-1 and move on to the finals.
MVP of the game was Daniel C.

Going into the Championship game against Clinton, the boys got out to the early lead with Justin C. netting one in the first with assists going to Daniel C. and Aidan F.
The boys hung on to the 1 goal lead until Clinton tied it up with 6 minutes left in the 2nd period and then Clinton bounced one off one of the Mount Forest players skates and past Goalie Tyler R. to take the lead with just over 2 minutes left in the period.
Tyler R. made some big saves to keep the game close and Kurtis S. came in for the third and was unbeatable but the boys could not get another puck past the big goalie from Clinton and ended up on the losing side of  a 2-1 game.
Tyler R. was named MVP of the game.

Although all players did not make it on the game sheet in this tournament, it was very much a team effort and there were many individual efforts made from all players to help the team get to the final game, from The Big 4 defence of Jarod B./Owen H. - Carsten C./Alex D. pairings to the efforts made by Brennan M, Quentin K. , Kyle H Kieren W. (even after taking a hard shot straight to the facemask ) and of course the constant effort from Sullivan F., who plays like a guy twice his size.

Both Goalies played well with only letting in 3 goals all day and coming up huge when they had to.

Speaking for all parents and coaches, We are very proud of the way the boys played all day and know they will get their championship if they keep playing the way they do.

Also, Way to go coach Jim, as he was not feeling his best but made it for the whole day.

The boys have practice Wed Jan 21rst @ 6:10 and play Saturday afternoon in Durham @ 1pm.

Good Luck Boys!
