Wellington North Hockey Challenge
On November 20th the Midget LL travelled south to Arthur to participate in their first Wellington North Hockey Challenge day put on by the Arthur Lions Club & the local Juvenile team.
The game was a challenge for the Rams as they were not permitted to check, but they looked at ease playing and showing their skills of passing and team work. Although the final score made the game seem one sided both teams played well. It was great to see both teams congratulating and encouraging the others in the game of sportsmanship! Scenes of the opposing teams tapping the goalie's pads after a good save, or a fist pump after a good shot were all part of this fun game. After the game there was a skills competition. The shoot out went to 4 shooters as each goalie made some good saves, but Jarren Kerr finally put the puck in the net for the Rams in this challenge. Matt Hogg showed good speed in the speed skating challenge, and Branden Hotchkiss, David Orr and Cody Stewart were pros in the relay obstacle course. Player of the game was Branden Hotchkiss as he had a hat trick & an assist during the Rams 9 - 0 win.
David Orr & Gavin MacVicar both scored 2 goals each, and Jarren Kerr & Aidan Capell each had 1 a piece.
Another accomplishment for the team was a penalty free game - proof of the sportsmanship of the game!
