Rams win third straight with victory over Lucknow
The Mount Forest Rams came away with a hard fought 3-1 win over a rugged Lucknow-Wingham squad on Saturday in Western Ontario Athletic Association play.

Morgan F. opened the scoring in the first period, intercepting a pass and firing a shot over the goalie for the early lead.

The Rams intermission talks usually include a coach saying “shots, shots, shots” to reinforce that we need to get more pucks to the net.

As the old saying goes, good things happen when you get pucks to the net.

And maybe it's because her dad whispers it in her ear at night while she's sleeping, but Abby W. showed why putting the puck on net is always a good thing.

The blue liner intercepted a clearing pass and stepped in to slide a shot through several players screening the Lucknow goalie and into the net for her first hockey goal after five years of ringette.

That shot earned Abby the Super Girl cape.

Morgan F. rounded out the scoring by sliding another one home for her 19th goal of the season. That sets a new single-season high for goals for Morgan in five years of hockey and she also tied her highest single-season point total with 24.

The Rams were up 3-0 when the penalties started piling up for both sides.

And that's when Jayde M. stepped up by killing penalty after penalty. Her efforts earned the tall blue liner the Hardest Worker hard hat.

Alyssa V. had another solid outing, with Lucknow only able to squeeze one by her midway through the third period.

The Rams are back on the ice on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. practice.

And then they hit the road for the Orangeville Tigers Sweetheart tournament, opening at 10:30 a.m. on Friday against Woolwich.
