BRANTFORD
– The Mount Forest Rams peewee C's kicked off the annual Walter
Gretzky Girls Hockey Tournament with a convincing 3-0 win over the
Petrolia Oilers on Friday.
The Rams came out flying and dominated play for three periods, keeping the Oilers pinned in their end for most of the game.
Goalie Alyssa V. had a quiet game in goal for the shutout, with only her snores reminding us she was at the other end.
Shea M. opened the scoring, out racing a Petrolia defenceman for a loose puck and blazing down the wing to fire one home to open the scoring in the second period.
Chloe R. made it two zip for the Rams when she redirected a pass from the side wall from Haven L.
And Chloe K. took a pass from Haven in the third and did her patented C.K. spin-o-rama in front of the net to catch the Oilers' goalie by surprise for Mount Forest's third goal.
Shea was named the game's MVP while Chloe K. earned the hard hat and Chloe R. (aka Shrimpy) was awarded the Super Girl cape.
The Rams move on to Game 2 against the Gloucester Stars on Saturday at noon and then face a tough Temiskaming Puckhounds team at 5 p.m.
