Mount Forest Rams are Golden in Cambridge!
The U18B Mount Forest Rams won Gold this past weekend in the 28th Annual New Years Challenge in Cambridge.  It was an exciting weekend that included the girls going undefeated, a shootout, and an overtime win against a talented team from Newfoundland!

The Rams started the Tournament against the Sportscraft Eastern Icebreakers a team from Newfoundland.  It was a fast paced game and the Rams found themselves trailing 1-0 late in the 3rd period. The girls were able to rally and scored 2 goals in the last 2 minutes to start the tournament off with a win.

The second game of the day was against the Peterborough Ice Kats and the Rams found their game early and finished with a 6-0 win.

The next day the girls faced off against a tough Lambeth Lancers team and were able to hold them off for a 2-0 win.

The semi-final would be against the Peterborough Ice Kats but this time they gave the Rams all they could handle. The girls were losing 2-0 going into the third but were able to come back and tie the game to force a shootout. It took four shooters and some amazing goaltending, but the Rams made it undefeated into the finals.

The Gold medal game would be a rematch against The Sportscraft Eastern Icebreakers and this game definitely didn't disappoint any fans. It was a fast paced game and both teams played excellent hockey. At the end of regulation time, the game was tied 1-1. The action was intense, but in the end it would be the Rams that would score with 8 seconds left in overtime to win GOLD! The sportsmanship displayed by both teams during a high pressure game was commendable.

It was an amazing weekend of Hockey and the coaching staff couldn't be more proud of these girls!
