Before the game started some of the girls could show off their talents in the skills competion.
The first two to do just that, were Natalee and Jordyn in in speed skating, they came in with resp. 21.9 sec. and 22.6 sec. Shoot out skills were shown by Natalie and Danielle, both 2 out of 8 and for the hardest shot Allyson came in with 31 km/hr and Jenna with 29.
The game started off with some good passing by Allyson and smart working on the boards by Jenna. Danielle tries to get it out but no luck, the puck doesn't want to leave the Mount Forest end. Soon enough Walkerton gets their first chance, with Mount Forest looking a bit slow at start. They miss the first but not so the rebound, 1-0.
Savannah shows some good interfering, as Cali and Jordyn hussle in front and behind the net. Jenna tries some nifty stick lifting. Samantha chases the puck but its an icing.
Gillian gets a great chance as she goes for the break away but shoot the puck just a bit too far ahead and the Walkerton goalie is all over it.
Marissa had to stop a 3 on 1 and we get a face off in the Mount Forest end. Jenna stick is in the way of the puck, it comes to Savannah, she gives a pass to Natalee but the puck stays in the Rams end and Walkerton doesn't hesitate and with another rebound the scores comes to 2-0.
Just before we get into the 2nd period, Michelle Kleinsteuber scores the winning number in the 50/50 draw.
With the game underway, Allyson decide when there is no room to pass, I will bring it in myself, she does it well but it doesn't stay in there long enough and before we know it the Rams cluster together in front off their own net. Danielle gives a nice forecheck and with a pass to Savannah, who sets up Natalee and Haley the game goes on. Jordyn is forced to throw her whole body in front off the puck and saves it. Danielle and Gillian go for it together and with nice passing and a shot, no luck the rebound is for Savannah who is just a bit too late. Meagan speeds around the Walkerton net but is stopped by the buzzer.
And with great thanks to Thrish the third period makes it onto the paper as well. Gillian and Natalee give off a shot that just goes wide. The Rams are putting on some more pressure during the start of this period. Walkerton shows off some fancy passing, but Marissa is all over it. Haley makes a great pass to Samantha, but the pressure to get to the net is to big and she loses the puck. We get a 2 on 1 from Walkerton but no goal. Another shot from Walkerton, but Marissa shows off her talents again. Jenna works hard and clears it to Danielle, who passes it to Natalie, but her shot is blocked. Walkerton recovers and take it into the Rams zone and make it 3-0. Jordyn skates hard to guard her own end and cleans it out. Gillian works to get it in the Walkerton end but it comes back and with a shuffle in front of our net, Marissa manages to make the save and freezes the puck.
The girls keep working hard to get on the boards, but just can't get one between the posts. Walkerton hussles into the Rams end and with lots of action in front of our net, with seconds on the clock, they make it 4-0.
