Year End Tournament in Ayton
The first game started of fast and exiting and it ended that way as well!

Game 1 Durham Huskies - Mount Forest Rams

Ayton.62.JPG

Some nice passing from Sam and as the Rams make it behind the Durham net right away and a chance. The puck makes it as quick out of the Durham end as came in. A face off next to the Huskies net and the puck makes it on Savannah stick, she make a great pass to Natalie who passes it on to Gillian, a great play. Jordyn keeps the play alive with a backhand and Meagan goes through and on the break away, Natalee follows and as the puck is stopped the first time, she is there for the rebound but it just misses the open net, what a chance, great work. Jenna keeps it in and Meagan goes for another try, no luck then Danielle gets it on her stick and it goes wide.

The puck is still alive and bouncing as Natalie weaves herself through 3 Durham players  but the goalie she her coming and is ready to stop her.

Allyson gives a great pass to Haley who tries hard to keep it going but the Huskies find a way to ice it. As the game gets underway again some nice passing between Gillian and Savannah as it ends in the corner and Natalie gets it out to Meagan but her onetimer is denied.

A slashing penalty for the Husky girls gives the Rams a 5 on 4 and it confuses them to the point that they are not looking where to pass and ping pong along the boarding on one side instead of using the whole ice surface.

The second period starts off with a fight over the puck between to Rams and ends in a save by Marissa...! As the face off is taken in the neutral zone after an offside by Mount Forest it comes back to their end behind the net as Natalee takes it out, then a quick change and Natalie comes off the bench gets the puck makes her way easy through the Durham defence and gets herself in a great position to score Mount Forest first goal.

More chances are missed, the girls work hard and more chances are created but not finished off. Jenna sees three girls coming at her and she gets a tripping penalty on the buzzer, but no goal against!

The third period get underway and Gillian gets a chance but the attempt is too weak and the puck moves out. Danielle gives off a good shot but way wide, the puck stays on the boards. Mount Forest goes for it and a shot is blocked but no one there for the rebound.

As the attacks keeps coming from Mount Forest lots of shots are blocked by the Durham goalie, who robs them a lot today.

Another offside takes a chance away from Samantha for a goal as Haley realizes just a second to late that her teammate is going for the breakaway. The game turns the other way and Meagan gets run over and a 5 on 4 for Mount Forest is the result, but not for long Natalee ends up in the penalty box for slashing and now its even again. Haley get a few real good chances to score. It gets real exiting in the last minute as Durham pulls their goalie. But a great pass from Samantha gets on Gillian stick but again the Husky goalie stretches and with the tip of her stick reaches the post and denies her the goal. A great game to watch!

Game 2

Another quick start, lots of pressure from the Normanby girls, but great passing from Samantha to Natalee, gives Gillian the chance for a shot which is denied. A backhand from Natalie passes by some Rams and makes it back to the Mount Forest end for Marissa to stop it on time. As Normanby gets a breakaway Allyson is their to help steer it back in the right direction, away from the goalie. But a two on one is almost to much for Mount Forest but Natalee gets it and the first goal is for the Rams, 1-0.

Marissa has to show off some more great footwork as she faces lots of yellow and black.

Jordyn sets up a good attack with a great pass and Cali makes sure she stops it on the board, in front of the blue line, giving Samantha a chance to pick it up and work her way to the net.

Ice is flying everywhere, girls are falling left and right, but the fight keeps on going both ways. Gillian works the boards and  that gives Natalie the chance for a break away, her shot is stopped by the goalie and as the whistle goes, she ends up with a slashing penalty for some wild poking at the puck... honestly she can’t help it that the goalie is in the way...!? With two minutes on the clock and a face off in the Normanby end, a nice backhand from Danielle gets close and the game turns towards the Rams and has Marissa holding on tight.

As the second period gets underway Danielle goes for the breakaway but her shot also gets stopped and as the game goes quick in the other direction the girls have to chase the Normanby breakaway. But the score doesn’t change. Mount Forest has a hard time and their shots are to weak to make a dent in anything and the ones Marissa receives are harder and has her scrambling for the puck, many times.

Natalie showed some great stick handling but no goal, Meagan keeps the game alive in the Normanby end with some quick poking. Savannah and Natalee give lots of pressure, as Danielle takes the puck she gets stopped at the blue line and she ends up chasing it going towards the Mount Forest end where Normanby gets a long shot which slides oh so smoothly for the 1-1.

The girls don’t give up and keep the pressure on, Savannah and Meagan create some good chance for a change in the score, it really is a fast and exiting game.

The third period chances are there and with the Normanby goalie always flat on the ice you would think it is easy to score but none of the shots coming off the ice. A great set up show what the girls can do and Natalie, Danielle and Gillian get their shots on the net. Savannah and Samantha take the next turn for a goal but instead of taking the shot, the take it around the enemy net for some cruising. Jordyn tries to go for it alone but Normanby intercepts quick and has Marissa stopping their attack. As the game is slowing down it stays 1-1, which means Mount Forest has one point less and ends up for a game for the third place.
