2010 Girls Tournament Mount Forest
A beautiful Oh Canada sung live was the official start of the Girls Tournament and the start of the Rams second game...

As the girls felt lucky no doubt, having half or a whole day of school. The first game against the TCDMHA Rebels I heard was a good one and a 3-2 win for the girls, Haley being the MVP, Congratulations Haley!

Game 2 Markdale Shooting Starts - Mount Forest
The second game started fast from the first face off, Natalie takes the first shot and Danielle goes for the rebound. Natalee D. takes the next face off and with a big loop the puck makes it to the boards, the digging starts. Jordyn got it, to Natalie and a pass to Samantha, but the Markdale goalie was ready and throw herself on the ice (actually I don't think she got up much after that...)Meagan tries it from behind and with a great pass to the front of the net, giving Mount Forest another chance.
But the puck makes it back to the Mount Forest net and Jenna see 3 Markdalers coming at her, she keeps her cool and keeps our end save. As the game turns back the way we want it, a great pass comes from behind the Markdale net but Gillian is in too deep and misses the chance as the puck came. Samantha and Haley get together and with Allyson keeping the play alive in their end, she gives a hard shot from the blue line which is stopped. Samantha tries for another one and with help from Natalie and a hussle and a push it becomes 1-0.
Jordyn gives a great pass to Meagan and she is hot today giving of a great shot and as the rebound is picked up Natalie and Danielle make it 2-0.
Natalee works hard and shows some good hussling with the puck. Savannah uses the boards and gives the puck to Natalie, Haley and Samantha who set up a great play together. Natalee comes up with a great hard pass right on Meagan's stick, she doesn't hesitate and shows off a beauty of a one timer. Jenna works the blue line and gives Meagan another chance, but with the goalie so low the puck needs to be coming up high.
As the second period starts off with a wraparound from Natalie giving Gillian some pushing time in front of and against the Markdale goalie, but she's not moving. Haley gives a great pass to Samantha. Jordyn picks up the puck in our end and decides to go for it all the way, good job! Natalee and Danielle go for a 2 on 1 and Danielle finishes of with a nice loop over the goalie, 2-0, that's the way to do it in this game! Natalee shoots hard on the Markdale net and Gillian picks up the rebound goes for the wraparound to one side no luck then decides to try the other side but the goalie is not budging. As the puck comes from the face off in the Markdale end Meagan gives a great pass to Danielle and with help from Natalee the scores comes to 4-0. The girls are on fire now as the three of them go for a 3 on 1 and this time it is Meagan who scores, 5-0.In the last few minutes of this period Savannah, Natalie and Gillian work the puck and with a great pass from Natalie, Gillian makes it 6-0.
As the third period is only seconds old Natalie pokes and Meagan scores, 7-0. With this on the score board, everybody is getting a little bit selfish and the passing goes down the drain, which means Marissa has the solve some problems and needs to go deep, but she is probably glad she gets something to do.
Natalee show of some great skills and outplays a bunch of girls, the puck gets in the corner and Haley is working it and as her pass comes nobody is ready for it. Natalee and Gillian work away at the goalie together and make it 8-0.
As the game winds down to the last seconds the girls are still working hard and with 10 seconds on the clock Natalie, Natalee and Cali go for one more and bring the final score to 9 for Mount Forest and 0 for Markdale.
Danielle was the MVP for this game and was more proud of the piece of paper it came on than the gift it came with!
Way to go girls seeya Sunday at 8 o'clock!

Game 3 Mount Forest Rams - Stratford Aces

This one was quick, not the game but the first goal, within 23 seconds. Meagan put this one away with some help of Natalie and Danielle. Haley found herself battling on the boards and Jenna made sure the puck was brought in, as Savannah picked it up and got good intentions with a pass to Gillian.
Cali wasn't quite sure which team she played for the first few minutes, as she kept passing it right through the middle to Stratford and Marissa had to come up with a save for every pass that was made.
Danielle went for a break away but was robbed by a great glove save from the Stratford goalie. Haley showed great insight with a pass to Natalee, who did the same and gave it to Samantha, but as the puck got pick up by the Aces they all had to chase it back again where Marissa made a great glove save as well.
As we get a face off in the Stratford end, Natalee tries out one of her backhands as it gets stopped, but keeps floating around in their end, Allyson work hard to keep it there and it ends with a shot from the blue line by Jordyn.
The second period Jenna give off a hard shot from the blue line, which comes out as fast as it went in and she has to chase it back to her own net, a struggle in front of it stops as the goalie decide to keep sitting on it.
Natalie, Gillian and Natalee keep working the puck in front, at and around the Stratford net, it hits the posts and goalie before it is work in, 2-0.
Samantha gives a great pass to Haley who goes for the breakaway, she works hard and the will is there, but her arms and legs were a bit shorter then those of the Stratford girls.
Allyson show some great defensive work behind the net and the puck makes it in to the Stratford zone, Meagan finds herself outplaying the referee before she can even get to the puck. With one and a half minute in the second period, Natalie gets on with it and score the third one for the Rams.
The third period starts off deep in the Mount Forest end, but its gets cleared for an icing call. A scramble in front of the Stratford net, creates some good chances, hard work from Meagan pays off with a great pass from Natalie to Danielle and the fourth goal is in.
Jordyn and Natalee work hard to get the puck out of our end. Haley gets a pass and hands it off to Samantha who goes in for a shot. Savannah has no luck yet scoring, but works very hard to pop one in. Jenna hussles back and steals the puck to turn the play back to the Aces end, as the puck goes back and forth it is finally iced for a much needed face off.
Stratford pulls their goalie in the last minute to try to work the boards, but the Rams are determined to win with Marissa having a shut out and pick up the pace to keep the puck away from her. Great Job Girls!!

Champions Game Blyth Bulldogs - Mount Forest Rams

This is a game that can go either way, with the Bulldogs have only one that can score. But it starts off with a penalty for slashing, so the first 2 minutes of this game we are already with down to 4. The pressure is on and as Samantha intercepts a Stratford pass she is off on a breakaway but her hard shot gets stopt. Allyson shows good insight a she gives a pass from one side to the other where Haley is waiting with no one around. Mount Forest is all over Blyth but it can change in a heartbeat as Cali finds herself with 3 Bulldogs coming at her, Marissa stops them in their tracks with a great body to glove save. But soon enough we she four Rams chasing one Bulldog and the 0-1 is a fact.
Natalie and Gillian play the boards and shot that almost goes in. We see a great play set up by Jenna, to Samantha and back to Jordyn, who passes it to Haley and on to Natalee.
As Blyth goes for another break away, the Rams stop her but not without tripping her, which ends with a 4 on 5 and a face off in the Mount Forest end, but the girls work them selfs out and into the Blyth zone and get a chance to shoot, which Blyth had a hard time with and came up with a slashing penalty themselves. That proved to be an expensive one for Blyth as they sealed the deal (with some good digging off the Rams) with a goal... in their own net, don't you love those...
But their revenge was sweet as the come back in the second period with a nice goal that went right over Marissa's head, literally. The Rams get frustrated and end up 30 seconds later with another slashing penalty. Marissa had to endure some more hard shots and lots of sticks, but she didn't budge and did not allow a goal. As the game manage to get to the other end, Gillian gets a nice shot off but it went wide. With help from Jenna the play stays alive and giving Natalie a chance to pick up the puck, but it went a little too fast and the Blyth goalie beat her to it. A great tiptoe save from Marissa ends the second period with a 2-1 lead for Blyth.
As the third period gets underway it is obvious that Blyth is that little bit more agressiv and they get their 3th goal right away.
Mount Forest does not give up and a hard shot from Danielle gives a rebound, but the goalie is a little bit faster picking it up then the Rams. A few minutes later another penalty for the Rams a they prevent a break away with a tripping. Frustration sets in and as the puck stays in one spot with several girls twirling around it and Natalee decide to wack it no matter where it would end up.
Another play is set up and with a beauty of a pass from Haley a great chance is missed as Mount Forest is so surprised and nobody can decide what to do with it.
Natalie outplays Blyth nicely and then waits just that second to long with passing as Danielle standing all alone in front of the Blyth net waiting. And as the last seconds tick away, another great game and great tournament ends.
We are very proud off all your hard work girls, no matter what!!!
