The Walkerton Weekend
A game that started off strong and fast with Jenna starting a nice play using the boards to get the puck into the Walkerton end...

SATURDAY

a bit of a hussle and Allyson shows Walkerton where she is made off. Cali give a good pass to Samantha and she get a long way but the puck makes it back to the Mount Forest end and is iced. The face off is taken on the Walkerton side, Jordyn and Jenna help out Meagan and Haley set up a nice chance and Jordyn ends it with a hard shot from the blueline.
As Danielle lifted a Walkerton stick, they didn't hesitate and lifted her, with the puck travelling to Marissa making nice saves as she faces lots of blue. Allyson tries to clear the puck, Natalie passes to Meagan and she takes off, the move to the Walkerton end and Cali helps out with a good backhand. The game goes fast, the girls are working hard.
Natalie takes it all the way around their net, but forgets to pass in front of the net. Gillian gets a break away with help from a good pass from Samantha. Marissa has lots to do and the girls make sure she not bored, cold and stiff today. As the puck makes it to Samantha's stick behind her own net, she passes in front of Marissa and Jordyn has to make a steel right on the buzzer.
As the second period started, Allyson takes on two Walkerton players and turns the play around as it ends in front off the goalie in blue with a nice backhand pass from Gillian.
White need to work hard to keep Walkerton under control, as Haley takes on the biggest girls and she very often succeeds to get the puck in the right direction by some nice, fearless fore checking. Jordyn goes for the break away but she gets stopped at the blue line and another chase starts towards the Rams end. Jenna faces 3 girls in blue but she keeps her cool and makes sure the puck is redirected. Samantha, Danielle and Gillian create a good chance by playing together well but the goalie is strong.
This time it is Cali who faces a few Walkerton and as she takes one out, the other gets the puck under control and loops it over Marissa for the first goal and a second one quick to follow over the glove hand end the second period. Now the girls are showing signs off slowing down.
Just in the third period, the play is in the Mount Forest end, Danielle takes the face off, the puck makes it to Gillian, who works herself through and out of their end. Jordyn helps out with a hard shot from the blue line and only just stayed underneath the Walkerton goalie's glove. Meagan makes a great pass after she looks for a free player. Gillian passes to Danielle who passes that on to Samantha, great setup and lot of chances are created, but no luck sofar. As the puck keeps travelling towards the Mount Forest end Marissa keeps the hard ones out beautifully with great leg work, but sometimes its the easy ones that get to you and soon its 4-0. With 6 minutes to go Jordyn decided to try out some new snow angel moves and that work out great. Danielle gets a good chance but the shot is stopped.
Meagan found some extra energy and takes off with the puck, Allyson helps out by outplaying some Walkerton girls and with a beauty of a pass to Haley. Just before the buzzer goes the puck is worked out by Gillian and with Danielle waiting for the puck, the game ends not with a bang but still a good game to watch!

SUNDAY

From the start of this game, we could see that the girls were ready for a revenge, they were alert and eager to get to the puck. The Walkerton Knight came prepared as well and it didn't take long before their first goal came all the way from the blueline, what did take a lot longer, like half way the second period, was their second goal! And in this case the score definitely doesn't reflect the game.
As Allyson give off a precise pass which is well received, the rams go forward. Jordyn takes it through the middle, pass it on to Haley, who gets it nicely on Natalie stick.
A good interception by Jenna and with help from Jordyn, Marissa is kept save. This is a long shift and the girls usual problem faces quick, as they can't get the puck out easily. As the girls in green gather four strong in front of their net is it the post that eventually saves Marissa.
The rams get a chance a Samantha and Danielle make it to the Walkerton net, but the goalie decides to sit on it.
The second period start off with a face off that makes it straight for the Walkerton net and is stopped, but they getting closer. As Gillian works her way out of her end she gives off a nice pass. Cali is lucky not to get called on a tripping penalty against Walkerton or her own team mate. The game goes back and forwards quick, lots of passes are made, and lots of them end up on a Walkerton stick and for a while we have a hard time even passing the red line. Which halfway in the second, they end up with Walkertons second goal, that hit Marissa and flipped over her.
Natalie passes had and straight to Allyson, right on her stick, she doesn't hesitate and gives it straight to Haley, who comes up with a hard one timer, awesome!
A tripping penalty for Walkerton gives the girls some more room and Danielle gets a chance to loop it over the goalie, but she stands tall. As the game goes on in front off Walkertons net, Meagan gets the pass and shoots hard, as it rebounds and the Knight are eager to get it the end up with another penalty. As the five on three stays mostly in the Mount Forest end it gets obvious that the girls get tired. Jordyn tries a breakaway and her shot is stopped on the buzzer.
With the beginning of the third period the scores is still only 2-0. As Cali brings it out of her end and with a good pass to Danielle, but she doesn't get far. But Haley gets herself around Walkerton, towards their net she passes it to Natalie and with a bit of poking, Mount Forest gets their first goal, 2-1.
Jordyn makes sure that the puck stays in the Walkerton end and with her hard shot, Haley gets a chance for Green. It is still a thight game and nobody is giving up. As bouncing puck is hard to control and makes it way in behind Marissa. But not 10 seconds after that it's Gillian who goes for the break away and as she wrestles on the boards with some Walkerton players, she makes it through and her shot ends up in the five hole, 3-2.
As the puck cruises around in the Mount Forest end Marissa, grew a few inches as she stopped a puck flying towards her, high.
It took until half of the third period, before the goals started accumulating and although the end score was 8-2, it did tell you nothing!!! Great game girls!!!
