Mitchell Girls Tournament Champions!
First off I would like to thank Mitchell for hosting another great venue. We have been going there for several years now.

Our first game was against Kitchener. We had just played them a week ago in the "Bush". They are a great team and came to play. Elyse, Brook, and PC took away a total of four goals with assists from Elyse, Regan and Gillian. They were evenly spread out over the three periods. We did have a scare (Holloween time) at the end of the third period when someone took a bad penalty whom I won't mention. Elyse (Haha) took a four minutes for a tripping AND body check. It was alright (no it wasn't) as our goalie Monica had a good workout, as she wasn't that busy earlier.

After the game we finally found a restaurant that would let us dine there. Unfortunately we had to drive to Stradford to Kelsies. They did check our ID's as they were looking for Mr. Lindsay Donald. Stratford will not let him eat anywhere in that town and others. You may want to check back to last years storys' at Wendys. Anyways after a great meal, a few of the girls, Dale and I went to go support the Atom Girls playing in Monkton. It was a great game and Dale didn't get kicked out and the girls tied 2 to 2!

Friday night back at Mitchell, we were onto game three. A few of the girls were fascinated by a NYS team coming all the way from New York to play in this Tournament. They were actually the North York Storm. This was a high scoring game of seven to zero. Another shut out for Monica. I"m not going to list everyone who got points as we would be here all day. It was good because as everyone almost got a point on the team. I would like to tip Brookes hat to the thier goalie as she was pelted by our shooters and made some fantastic saves.

Saturday was a free day. Lots of rest and refreshments. And by the way the Pat's won in a shootout Saturday night.

Back to Mitchell Sunday morning, our team does not like early mornings, especially Wendy! We were up against Ingersol Ice. We let one in early in the first period. This was our first goal against this season in six games. After we woke up and had a stern talking to in between periods we struck twice making it 2 to 1 thanks to Brooke. The Ice came back to tie it in the third then Reagan snipped one off to finish the game to 3 to 2 win. Was another great game. Both teams were evenly match and we look forward to seeing them again soon somewhere down the road, hopefully on a nice sunny day......get it? Ice....Sunny, nevermind.

We had a few hours off before we went to the championship game against Kitchener Rangers. A few of us went to a little restaurant downtown. Elyse and I were the first ones there and the lady asked if it was for two and I said jokingly we would take the back half. She came up to me and said she was the only one here. I said we had a few hours and it maybe ten people at the most. She was ok with that.

Ten soon became 15, then the whole team was there, 28 people. We told her again we were in no rush and she ran for the phone to call for some back up.

Trish started taking orders to help out, Gail N. started with drinks and we took over the restaurant! It was hilarious! She actually locked the front door for us. Her back up wasn't answering her calls. It all worked out in the end. Except we did run out of chocolate milk. But a superhero disguised as a concrete supervisor/manager went to Macs and bought a 4l jug of the good stuff for the girls (and Derek)! Thanks again to the Crosswinds Restaurant in Mitchell ( that was a plug).

Finally back to hockey, the championship game, we knew we had to work hard as they wanted to win this game and tournament. It was a slow start, half way through the first, rookie Natalie popped one with an assist from our defence Emily. It was late in the second when Reagan got an unassisted goal. Then Brook thought, I can do that! Then proceeded to do that 90 seconds later. 3 to o. Eight minutes left, is Monica going for the third shutout? Kitchener pulls their goalie. Six strong, big players on our five, then a shot by Elyse from our blueline makes 4 to 0.

Tournament Champions!!

Well Done girls, lets keep the strong dedication and hard working going, we have a long way to go! Thanks to the coaching staff, except Todd who won at curling. And of course thanks to parents for thier support!
