Brampton Hockey Tournament
By Mark Carson. The girls finished the year with a final tournament in Brampton. This tournament is the largest girls hockey tournament in the world. It hosts teams from as far away as Japan, England and the United States. Our girls had another strong tournament going 1-1-1 and only came up one goal short of going into the semis. The first 2 games of the round robin were against Orangeville and Caledon. These 2 teams are the only teams  this year that were able to run the score up on the girls. So the girls were looking forward to another chance to show themselves and their opponents that they are a better team than they have showed in past games. The girls had a 1-0 lead against Orangeville with 3 minutes left in the game on a point shot from Evelyn.

Unfortunately the girls couldn't quite hold on as Orangeville scored twice in the final 3 minutes to take the 2-1 win.
The girls then earned a hard fought 0-0 tie against Caledon in Game 2. Sandra had her 17th shutout of the season.
In Game 3 the girls played the host Brampton and needed to win by 6 goals or more to move on. The girls gave it their best shot as they went on to win 6-1 but unfortunately this left them one goal short.
Ariana and Evelyn both scored twice while Paige and Chloe added singles.
The girls played their hearts out this weekend and finished their season off in fine fashion.
At the end of the tournament the girls got a chance to thank their coaching staff and parents for all the help and time they put in all season long.
The coaching staff then thanked the girls for working so hard this season to make a new team so successful.
The coaches handed out the year-end Hardest Working Player hard hat.
Ariana was named the hardest worker for the season, an award she was up for each and every game.
They also handed out a couple of Esso medals to recognize two players for their efforts this season.
Sandra got one for dedication to the team medal.
She is the girls only goalie and she showed up to every practice and game this season.
The other medal went to Courtney for most sportsmanlike. Which was a nice touch by the coaches considering Courtney had never played hockey before and had limited experience with skating.
Great season girls, have wonderful summer and hopefully we see you all back in the fall.
