The Mount Forest Minor Hockey Association hosted its annual awards banquet on May 2 and five members of the peewee girls house-league team received trophies. The awards were voted on by the bench staff and manager. And it wasn't easy as there was debate for each-and-every award which just shows how hard these young ladies worked this year.

Brampton Hockey Tournament
Submitted

By Mark Carson. The girls finished the year with a final tournament in Brampton. This tournament is the largest girls hockey tournament in the world. It hosts teams from as far away as Japan, England and the United States. Our girls had another strong tournament going 1-1-1 and only came up one goal short of going into the semis. The first 2 games of the round robin were against Orangeville and Caledon. These 2 teams are the only teams this year that were able to run the score up on the girls. So the girls were looking forward to another chance to show themselves and their opponents that ...

Game 30 Recap

By Mark Carson. The girls played an exhibition Sunday afternoon against the Orangeville Tigers. The girls didn't have their best effort today and lost 4-0. At the end of the game both teams got a chance to practice 4 on 4 in case both teams have to play in overtime on Easter weekend in Brampton. If you didn't see the game but heard the score you might think that Sandra had a rough game having let in 5 goals. This couldn't be further from the truth as she faced 39 shots and made 34 saves. The girls should thank their goalie that the game wasn't a lot worse than it already was. The Rams play ...

By Mark Carson. Our girls played their league championships this weekend in Kurtzville and brought home a silver medal. The championship game was against West Grey and it was a nail biter till the very end of the game. The girls were trailing 2-1 with a little over a minute left in the game and coach Nanninga decided it was time to pull Sandra to try to get the tying goal. The girls gave it their all with all kinds of chances in the final minute but just couldn't find a way to score. The girls came up a little short losing 2-1 but played their hearts out. I think coach Nanninga said it best ...

Game 29 Recap
Submitted
By billwalker on Mar 16, 2014 (676 views)
By Mark Carson. The Rams now have 20 wins this season after shutting out Upper Maitland on Sunday in Kurtzville. Todays score was 2-0 and in a game that the girls didn't skate to well they still managed to dominate the game. Sandra only saw 6 shots today but it was a big milestone game for her. Sandra recorded her second consecutive shutout and her 16th of the season. She also recorded her 20th win this season. Not bad at all when you consider she is playing against girls that are 2-3 years older than she is. The goal scorers today were Chloe and Megan. The only assist of the game came from ...
