Holiday Hockey
Our Girls took to the ice "AG Style (Atom Girls)" over the holidays and should be very proud of their effort!  The team travelled to Milverton to take part in the Milverton Royals Holiday Challenge on the 27th and 28th.  With a shortened bench due to the holidays and a last minute goalie illness, AP's Brianna Gordon and Hailey Farnell joined our team to take part in some Atom Girls action and what a great job they did!  Gordon earned a shut out in the first game against the Grey Highlands Shooting Stars.  In this game, all the girls skated hard the entire game and dominated the play for 3 straight periods, shutting the Stars down and coming up with a 3 - 0 win... Chaise McRobb was game MVP.

Onto the second game versus the Blyth Bulldogs.  This was the first time we had faced this team and a solid effort was put forth by all of our girls with lots of opportunities at the net and a strong defense to keep the puck out of our end.  Gordon had another strong game in net, but unfortunately ended up on the losing side of 3 - 2 game.  Defense Jaime Glerum earned MVP honours.
Now it was do or die against the Ingersoll Ice who we have played before at the beginning of the year and are a very strong team.  Goalie Sandra Nanninga was able to kick her flu bug to the curb and returned to the net for this game.  Our girls did a great job of keeping the Ice at bay but couldn't quite get a handle on one of their players who roofed it over Nanninga's head 3 times in a row.  The end result was a 3 - 0 loss and a trip back home ending our tournament action.  AP Hailey Farnell was MVP for this game.
But the hockey action wasn't over.  We faced Walkerton on Saturday and the girls were more determined than ever to get back in the win column.  With Haven LeBlanc returning from Christmas vacation we were still a little short handed so Farnell stuck with us for this one.  It's obvious that the girls are working on their skating and team work as the Capitals had a hard time keeping us away from the puck.  The scoring action started late in the first period with a career first goal from Sage Cook!  Our girls created lots of opportunities and everyone was trying to take the puck for a skate this game.  The second period ended with a 1- 0 lead for the Rams.  Then in the third, Morgan Flanagan and Haven LeBlanc each potted one to end the game with a 3 - 0 win and shut out #4 for Nanninga.  Your hard work and determination is really paying off girls!  Congratulations on some great holiday hockey...."AG Style" ;)
